Photos from the 'Iron Man 3' Set Reveal The Iron Patriot

By now you’ve probably read how Iron Man 3 is currently filming in North Carolina.  You probably also know that Shane Black is directing the third chapter in the tent-pole series, what I bet you didn’t know is that the Iron Patriot was going to make an appearance in the film.  IR3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, James Badge Dale (The Grey), and Jon Favreau.  I’ll tell you after the jump which one of these actors will be wearing the red, white and blue suit.

'All is By My Side' Set Pics of Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix

 

Every so often a biopic is made depicting a slice of life from an iconic pop star or rock and roll artist who generally died during their primes.  All is By My Side is being categorized as the unofficial Jimi Hendrix biopic, unofficial as the estate of the late guitarist isn’t playing nicely with the producers.  Written and directed by John Ridley (Red Tails), All is By My Side stars Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000 from Outkast) along with Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Imogen Poots (Fright Night).

Movie Review: ‘Men in Black 3’

Men in Black 3 Starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Michael Stuhlbarg and Alice Eve Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld Rated PG-13

Ten years ago Sony Pictures had a broken franchise on their hands.  Sure they probably eked out a small profit on that sequel, but the backlash from critics and audiences had told them that Men in Black was just a one trick pony.  The funny thing about time, though, is that it clouds our memories.  So some rising star in the Sony universe must have noticed all the re-booting that every studio was giving to their own tent-pole franchises and thought it might be a great idea for this one too.  I bet they also asked for a huge promotion, the corner office, and a hot secretary.  So off they went into the company vault and pulled out the dust collecting creation.  Of course, this particular franchise had a few faces that needed to sign up otherwise, after all, what would Men in Black 3 be without Will Smith’s Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K?

The funny thing is getting those two back seemed to have been the easy part.  There was the issue with a script that no one could agree on.  It was reported that filming began with a bare minimum of screenplay and production was shut down for a while until someone could make sense of the storyline.  With so much riding on this film, it’s no wonder that Sony didn’t employ a team of witch-doctors to fix it.  Instead they hired Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) to serve as the proverbial script-doctor.  After seeing the film I would say that he succeeded in keeping the story true to the franchise and outside some sappiness at the end, stuck to the same winning formula of the first film.

Sony Grabs Ethan Hawke Time-Travel Thriller ‘Predestination’

To many people, the Cannes Film Festival is nothing more than an international party of celebrities flaunting their tans, films, yachts, etc.  Yes, they watch movies and judge movies, but the names of which usually evaporate from the public’s minds fairly quickly as they’re more intrigued by the newest summer blockbuster to be released in the next few days.  Speaking of potential blockbusters, Variety reported today that Sony Pictures just acquired the rights to Predestination.  A futuristic time travel thriller starring Ethan Hawke.

‘Fleming’ Biopic to be Directed by Duncan Jones

Ian Fleming created the fictional James Bond character as his literary avatar and beginning on April 13^th, 1953, when Casino Royale was first published, his creation became a permanent fixture of pop culture.  Fleming went on to write 14 novels of the “shaken, not stirred” loving secret agent and those books have spawned 22 films (and counting).  Now, according to Variety, K5 Films, PalmStar Media Capital and Liberty Films are planning to give the legendary spy scribe his own big screen treatment and have signed Duncan Jones (Moon) to direct the feature.
