Jason Statham to Star in Brian De Palma's 'Heat' Remake

Jason Statham is going to star in the remake of Heat, but before you blurt out “blasphemy”, it isn’t “that” Heat film.  (Thank god)  Statham has signed on to headline director Brian De Palma’s nouveau version of the Burt Reynolds’ starrer from 1986.  For those of you keeping score at home; the Reynolds’ Heat co-starred Karen Young (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Peter MacNicol (Battleship).  It isn’t to be confused with the much superior Heat that starred Al Pacino, Val Kilmer and Robert De Niro.

Al Pacino Lends Voice To 'Despicable Me 2'

I expect Al Pacino’s “acting style” to come through the animation in his first ever voice work as the lead villain in Despicable Me 2.  It's reportedly the same role originally left by Javier Bardem and Pacino stepping in makes me wish it was a motion-capture film.  Who knows what kind of character is expected since, I would assume, both actors are very different from one another.

Pacino, Walken, & Arkin Are 'Stand Up Guys'

In Hollywood, old is sometimes new and the new for today is the casting of three Hollywood legends (i.e old) to appear in Stand Up Guys.  THR is reporting that Oscar winning producer Fisher Stevens (The Cove) will have the pleasure of directing Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin in the project that began as a spec script by Noah Haidle entitled Old Timers.

The story centers on two aging criminals, one of whom has been hired to kill his friend.

New Trailer for Cop Drama 'The Son of No One'

A movie starring Channing Tatum that looks kinda good?  That's a pretty rare feat, but it's possible writer/director Dito Montiel (Fighting) has pulled it off with the new cop drama The Son of No One.  

The story centers on a young cop, Jonathan White (Tatum) who is assigned to a precinct in the same working class neighborhood he grew up in.  Soon after he gets caught up in a department wide scandal that involves a series of unsolved murders.

'Jack and Jill' Trailer Makes You Want To Mourn The Loss Of Comedy

If you thought Zookeeper looked bad, I don't think you've seen anything yet.  Jack and Jill, the latest Adam Sandler comedy, is about Jack and his sister Jill who visits him in California and never leaves; both roles are played by Sandler.   

One of my favorite comedies from him was Happy Gilmore.  That was comedy gold -- 90s comedy gold.  His most recent films, such as Grown Ups, Just Go With It, Zohan, and Chuck and Larry were just plain garbage and I still don't know how he's still making movies.  The trailer for this film just reinforces that.
