Herman Cain Quotes 'Pokemon' in Presidential Race Speech

It is not very often that movie blogs can discuss politics.  Why would we want to?  It is a tricky subject best avoided.  However, this is just a political topic that just can not be avoided. 

After several allegations of sexual harassment, affairs, and other debauchery, Herman Cain decided to drop out of the 2012 Presidential Race.  During his debate speeches and also in his book, Cain quoted something that sounded very familiar and only credited it to a "poet".  More accurately, the quote was actually lyrics from 'The Power of One' by Donna Summer which was a popular track in Pokemon: The Movie 2000.

'How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack' Movie Coming from Robert Zemeckis

Finally someone in the movie biz will bring the wildly popular garden gnomes to life for a silver screen adventure.  Director Robert Zemeckis, whose created light-hearted animated movies with The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol, may go considerably darker for his next semi-animated feature.  

Deadline reports, Zemeckis is producing a film adaptation of Chuck Sambuchino’s "How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack" for Sony, and has just hired writers Chad Damiani and JP Lavin to pen the script for this live-action story (though the gnomes will be animated).

Danny Devito Speaks For The Trees in 'The Lorax' Debut Trailer

The trailer for the most recent adaptation of the Dr. Seuss novel, The Lorax, was released earlier today.  It's being brought to us from Illumination Entertainment, the same studio that made Despicable Me, and looks to be following a similar style to the commercially and critically successful 2008's adaptation of Horton Hears a Who.  The film's released plot summary states that it is about, "Ted, an idealistic young boy, who tries to find the one thing that will win him affection of the girl of his dreams.  To do so, he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world."

New Trailer for Spielberg's 'The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret Unicorn'

What do you get when you combine Steven Spielberg to direct, Peter Jackson to produce and Edgar Wright to help pen your script?  An animated feature film that looks simply amazing.  Don't believe me, check out the new trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn at the end of this post.

In the best animation I've seen to date, we have a story of a young man named Tintin (Jamie Bell) who teams with his loyal dog (Snowy) and a sea captain, Haddock (Andy Serkis) in search of treasure.

New Trailer for Animated Feature 'The Pirates! Band of Misfits'

It's another uneventful weekend for movies news, though the final Harry Potter is likely still crushing box office records at this moment.  Luckily, I was able to find a trailer for the animated movie The Pirates! Band of Misfits, which figures to produce some laughs via a band of goofy buccaneers.  Hardy har...Arrrrgh!
