'A Star is Born': Beyoncé Pregnancy May Affect Clint Eastwood Film

Guess that Beyoncé Knowles had to declare her pregnancy to the entire world at last night's MTV Video Music Awards show. How inconsequential it must all feel. Certainly Clint Eastwood was notified beforehand that his lead female actress for his remake of A Star Is Born had become pregnant. Deadline reports that this latest news may affect the Warner Bros production start date for the film.

Clint Eastwood Wants Leonardo DiCaprio for 'A Star is Born' Reimaging?

It must be nice to be considered or even sought after by today's top directors. For Leonardo DiCaprio it's a reality. Just after Quentin Tarantino wanted him in his next film and now Clint Eastwood reportedly wants him for his next project as well. After finishing up work on J. Edgar (due to be released December 14 2011), Clint will tackle a remake of the show biz drama/musical A Star is Born for Warner Bros. Yes, that’s right, Clint is directing a musical. For those unfamiliar, the story of A Star is Born centers on a movie star who helps a young singer/actress find fame, even as his own career wanes due to age and alcoholism. The beautiful Beyonce Knowles has already joined the film as the up-and-coming star and Leo, should he sign on, would naturally play the established performer.

OK, So Beyoncé Isn't Wonder Woman After All

In the middle of last week, we shared a story from Comic Book Movie that dropped a strong hint that Beyoncé would be playing Wonder Woman. She's mentioned her interest in the role before, and I don't hate the idea but it did seem like a strange an not wholly believable way for the new to be dispensed.

And that's because it wasn't real. The website now apologizes for the posting on its comments section by a former contributor, emphasis on "former," who wrote the Beyoncé story to impress his girlfriend. Well, who hasn't been there before? But if that's what he tried to do to get over good with a chick - "Look, baby, I lied on the internet!" - I don't see that relationship lasting very long.

Beyoncé Kind of Confirms She's Wonder Woman

A few months back, Beyoncé Knowles interjected herself into the superhero discussion, admitting she'd be up for playing Wonder Woman. Actually, she went so far as to say it would be a "bold" move to cast a black Wonder Woman, and there's some legitimacy to that, although I think the character shouldn't be a lilywhite chick, anyway, just because of the connection to Amazons.

Still, it was a little blip, no different from someone saying they'd like to work with Martin Scorsese down the line or something. But now Beyoncé apparently likes the idea so much she's putting a ring on it. Comic Book Movie reports that the singer and actress told reporters at a press conference that she's meeting with the writers of GI Joe and Max Payne director John Moore in the coming months to see how they can completely ruin this project. I'm sorry...that's not exactly what she said, but with the writers of GI Joe on board, that seems kind of inevitable.

Beyonce Linked to 'A Star is Born' Rebirth

I find it hard not to like Beyonce Knowles. Though I'm not a huge fan of her music, as undeniable as the hook in "Single Ladies" is, she's certainly got plenty of talent and seems to be fairly well-grounded, at least on the Kanye West scale of such things. And her ventures into acting haven't been disappointing - Good but not great in Dreamgirls, great but trapped in a movie nobody saw called Cadillac Records...and I didn't see Obsessed, so I can't judge that one.

So while I have no problem with her landing movie roles, I do wish she'd stop singing in her films. She's been linked to a new version of A Star is Born, which has been done a few times before but not in the last 30 years. The story follows an upcoming female star who falls for a much bigger male star but over the course of their careers, she becomes Barbra Streisand and he Kris Kristofferson.
