'Area 52' The Next Big Screen Bound Comic Book

From Superman to Spawn, the popular comic book turned movie trend will last forever.  The latest example has well known producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Summit Entertainment developing a film adaptation of the Image Comics mini-series Area 52, Deadline reports. 

The Brian Haberlin comic launched in 2001, and follows a group of soldiers who provide security for a top secret, remote military storage facility.  The kind of place where the government keeps alien spaceships, sasquatch and Elvis under wraps.

'The Goon' Adaptation Closer To Production? We'll See

A commentor on a recent article asked when The Goon will see the light of day.  Well, the answer to that question can't be answered just yet.  Though there is some light shining bright from the end of the tunnel.  Yesterday, Eric Powell, the creator of the comic series, released some test footage from the forthcoming film.  The film will be based on the Dark Horse Comics of the same name.  Check out the awesome test footage after the jump.

Showtime Making Series Based on Comic Book 'The Damned'

Showtime is developing another series based on a comic book and graphic novel, similar to what the network already has in the works with the comic turned TV series "100 Bullets".  This time the story comes from the pages of David Hayter's limited released comic "The Damned".

The Damned was written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Brian Hurt for the publisher Oni Press.  The premise of comic revolves around Eddie, a cursed man trying to reacquire his soul while being stuck in the center of a modern-Chicago turf war, where mobsters are demons.

No Underwear For New 'Superman' Comic Book

The Superman comic book will get a reboot as DC Comics will launch the series all over again with Action Comics No. 1.  Who says movies are the only ones to get a reboot.  This will be the 21st century version and will be written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Ralph Morales.  Already, the comic book is causing some controversy as Superman looks a bit different.

Gone are his famous red underpants he wears and in some instances like the one below, Superman is just in a pair of jeans and hiking boots.

'The Governator' TV Show Created By Stan Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger

For awhile now, Californians have been joking around that they have the Governator as their guv'ner.  Well now comes word that Stan Lee is creating TV show called Governator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.  

Now it's real easy to think that this is an April fools joke.  Afterall, the video was uploaded April 1st, but this actually goes along with what Schwarzenegger announced last week when he said he would be returning to his entertainment roots with a cartoon and a comic book.  So you can decide whether this is a prank or not.  Here's the trailer:
