Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' and Working With 3D

We can all thank the 2011 Comic-Con for getting more info out of director Ridley Scott and his latest film Prometheus. A super-secretive and majorly buzzed about science-fiction piece from co-screenwriter Damon Lindelof, who has often cited that Prometheus is not a direct prequel to the Alien franchise, but that it share "similar strands of DNA from Alien". Luckily /Film has a description on some of the footage as well as Scott's admiration working with 3D.

Marvel To Drop Out Of Comic-Con As Well

Less than two weeks ago I wrote about major Hollywood studios pulling out from Comic-Con, choosing not to display their big tent-pole comic book superhero movies. Therefore is comes as no surprise that Marvel too has decided to pull out from showcasing any of their upcoming films at the convention. Some may think that Comic-Con is the perfect place to market their films to devoted fanbase's, but a certain tide has changed.

Jon Favreau Invites You To 'Cowboys and Aliens' World Premiere At Comic-Con

 

Saturday July 23rd at the San Diego Civic Theater is the where for this historic Comic-Con event.  Reportedly, the who is to include an event with a few of the stars from the film, namely Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, and Daniel Craig.  If it wasn't a couple of thousand miles away I might try to attend, since I think this will be one of the most enthusiastic audiences director Jon Favereau is going to be able to capture, and with any luck he will be able to set a precedence for comic movies to come.

Patton Oswalt 'WIRED' Editorial: "Wake Up, Geek Culture. Time to Die"

Patton Oswalt is a geek.  And, I had no idea until a couple of summers ago when I saw him at Comic Con moderating both Disney panels and the TRON: Legacy showcase.  It was great to see because he was knowledgeable, funny, and totally geeking out on stage with the other thousands of fans in Hall H.

Patton Oswalt was a geek.  But, not anymore according to his recent editorial in WIRED magazine.  "Wake Up, Geek Culture. Time to Die" explains how our everything that ever was, available forever, anytime you want it culture is making the idea of a "geek" obsolete.  And, the dude's got a point.

'The Thing' Trailer Leaks from NY Comic Con

I'm not sure if you can call this a legitimate leak because in a world where every mobile device has a video record function, you have to show stuff knowing that someone is going to capture it and put it on YouTube.  This leak comes to us straight from the New York Comic Con where they unveiled The Thing trailer to a large audience.

I must apologize for the shitty quality and for the most part, you can't even make out what's being shown but the narrative is fairly clear.  The movie is a prequel of the 1982 John Carpenter film and takes place right before the original film.
