Bloody Red Band Trailer for the New 'Conan the Barbarian'

At first, I thought a Conan the Barbarian reboot was a terrible idea, but after watching Jason Momoa in action as Khal Drogo on the HBO series Game of Thrones I get it now.  Blood and guts, 300 style movies make bank these days and Momoa is the perfect fit for this genre.

Don't get it twisted though, I still have zero desire to see this movie even on dvd.  The red band trailer that includes the blood, the body count and the awful soundtrack you wouldn't ordinarily see in most previews doesn't do anything for me.

New Trailer for 'Conan the Barbarian' 2011

The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back on August 19, 2011. So... most of us know the story of Conan the Barbarian, but if not here's a recap. Teaser Trailer for Conan the Barbarian

Here's a disappointing trailer for the Conan the Barbarian reboot that will make you say to yourself, "what the hell did I just see?" And I don't mean that in a good way.

The original starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and I'm not expecting Jason Momoa (Baywatch) to come even close to Governor Schwarzenegger but after seing this trailer, it makes it seem like it should be one of those straight to DVD projects.  Now to be fair, this is just a trailer and it shows you very little, but if the film is directed anywhere close to how this teaser was put together, I don't see the appeal.

'Conan' Release Date Set

The new Conan reboot will be leaping off the screen at us on August 19th, 2011. Less than a year away. And it seems it's being released in 3D. Now while I'm not sure I'll be catching this one in 3D (though I would like to see Rose McGowan in 3D), I'll admit I'm a bit curious to see how it will turn out. However, that's not why I'm reporting this news about the release date.

First Action Shot of Jason Momoa as 'Conan'

I haven't been sold on much concerning the new Conan reboot, and wasn't a big fan of Jason Momoa's casting. However, this new action shot of Momoa in character from the aptly named Conan Movie Blog (via Worst Previews) is pretty damn convincing, I think:
Click to Enlarge That's about all we've got right now, but it's definitely a small step in the right direction. And I'm OK with director Marcus Nispel, who made Friday the 13th. They could do better; they could do worse. Conan will be released some time next year, and I would guess pre-summer.
