The comments are already coming in ripping on David Goyer and the Godzilla reboot.  For one, I like the big lizard and look forward to seeing what Goyer is going to be able to do with the story.  If it is going to be a complete reboot it will almost have to be an origin story, which Goyer has a bit of experience with

David Goyer's Graphic Novel Intro Hints at His Take on 'Superman'

Right now, there really isn't another high profile picture being shrouded in as much secrecy as Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman film (well, besides anything J.J. Abrams works on, that is).  Even Christopher Nolan is giving a little dish on his next Batman picture.  But all we've gotten out of Snyder and screenwriter David Goyer is a few cryptic tidbits about Clark Kent's internal struggle on whether or not to become Superman.

Well, after Goyer was brought in to write the introduction to Geoff Johns' new graphic novel, Superman: Secret Origin, we have a little more insight on what to expect from his incarnation of Supes.  Hit the jump to read Goyer's intro.

From Mad Man to Man of Steel? Jon Hamm Rumored for Superman Reboot

Hamm plays sinister far too well to be Superman. Also, he smokes too much.

As if the idea of the Superman: Man of Steel reboot being produced by Christopher Nolan and written by David S. Goyer wasn't enough reason to nerd out, news comes today that Mr. Jon Hamm is a heavy favorite to be next on my "People I Never Thought I Wanted to See In Spandex" list.

David Goyer to Spearhead 'Wonder Woman' Movie?

Some guys write, some guys direct, some guys do both. But only a few of those some guys are any good at both. So I don't share the enthusiasm The Playlist has for a new rumor that connects David S. Goyer with Wonder Woman. Regular reader know I've been saying for years that this should be the next DC Comics property turned into a movie, well before The Flash and maybe even before The Green Lantern, although that's not the path the studio chose.

Wonder Woman might be the most obvious advantage DC has over Marvel, which is in short supply of instantly recognizable female heroes. You can say Wonder Woman to my mom and she'll have some idea, thanks to the TV show. Jean Grey? Sorry. So I'm happy Warner Bros. may be getting off the couch for this one finally, but if Goyer directs it, I have much less hope for it. See, he's one of those guys who writes, and he's usually pretty good at it. And nobody else immediately leaps to mind to tackle the character because of his history writing comic book adaptations. Joss Whedon, sure, but would Warner Bros. hire the writer-director of The Avengers after already detonating his ideas for this franchise years ago? But Goyer is not nearly as good a director as he is a writer, and for a project that has faced a lot of backward momentum, I'd rather they go with somebody else to direct.

Writer David Goyer Linked to 'Superman' Reboot

I'm not sure I want David Goyer directing very much - that's been a real hit and miss prospect - but writing, particularly superhero movies, seems to be his strong suit. When he bowed out of his ABC show, FlashForward, to focus on features, there was speculation that it meant Batman Whatever It's Going To Be Called. Not so. Not yet.

The next David Goyer superhero script will be the next iteration of Superman, according to a source tipping Latino Review. Makes sense, I guess. Goyer is not only good at comic book adaptations, he's been one of the busiest hired guns for both DC and Marvel properties, and he's worked with Christopher Nolan on the Batman movies, something DC Entertainment is desperate to recreate. There have even been reports that Nolan is overseeing the new Superman without becoming too involved. Here's the way this is said to be playing out: It has a working title of The Man of Steel (but I would expect marketeers to "rebrand" that as Superman: The Man of Steel if it sticks), and Goyer has been brought in to bring the series "back to the John Byrne incarnation. Modern. Believable. Fun."
