Bruce Willis Wears Meat Helmet, Isn't Afraid of Alligators

Sadly, the two stories alluded to in the headline are not related. Though honestly, Bruce Willis is such a convincing tough guy, would you really be surprised if he occasionally donned a meat hat in order to taunt alligators?

While that is sadly not the case, he did wear a "meat hairpiece" on David Letterman's show last night, claiming he was inspired by Lady Gaga's VMA meat dress. Willis went on to describe the hairpiece as "100% ground beef sirloin. Top shelf, organic." After salt and peppering his meat toupee, Willis somehow convinced Letterman to take a bite out of it.

Sane Joaquin Phoenix Heads Back to 'Letterman'

Magnolia Pictures PR firm sent us an email today letting us know that Joaquin Phoenix will head back to 'David Letterman' on September 22nd.  Why is this news?  Well last time Joaquin Phoenix was on Letterman, he talked about his retirement from acting to pursue a career in hip-hop.  With a long beard and dark sunglasses, fans were concerned about his mental health and rightfully so. 

Of course, he didn't really retire...surprise, surprise.

Bill Murray Calls 'Ghostbusters III' "My Nightmare"

Bill Murray was the first guest on each of Dave Letterman's late night talk shows and last night - whether it's intentional or not - Murray was the first guest on Letterman for Jay Leno's first night back at The Tonight Show. And he was dressed for the occasion.

This interview clip seems a bit like a set-up, as many topics are for comedians on talk shows. By the same token, Murray hasn't wanted to say much about Ghostbusters III, but he discusses it here, in addition to a story about the Ghostbusters video game I think he's told before. It still works, though. But if the plot of the film is the way Murray says it is, that's more than we knew yesterday.

The Lowdown On the Letterman/Leno Super Bowl Ad

So that really out-of-the-blue Letterman/Oprah/Leno Super Bowl promo for The Late Show? It was all Dave's idea, apparently. Unless you're a football fan - and you don't need to be to watch the Super Bowl - it was arguably the highlight of the night, certainly the most interesting development of the entire first half: Dave Letterman and Oprah, recreating their 2007 ad (the first time they'd appeared together in more than a decade), and joined on the couch by Jay Leno. But why?

"How do we come close to topping the last one," asked Letterman executive producer Rob Burnett in a chat with Entertainment Weekly. "Then Dave got this idea. My first call was to Oprah – she got it right away – and then I called Les Moonves to make sure he was OK with Jay being on CBS. I have to give Les credit...he got it immediately." "And then I called [Leno's executive producer] Debbie Vickers, who said, ‘Dave and Jay, in the same room?’ She laughed for a good minute and said Jay would want to call." Burnett continued, "I hung up, and two minutes later it was Jay. He said ‘This is the way show business should be.’ Debbie then cleared it with NBC Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin and NBC-Universal CEO Jeff Zucker."
