Guillermo del Toro just keeps gaining more and more popularity in Hollywood. After having executive produced Puss in Boots for DreamWorks Animation, the director/producer/writer has been given "a vote of confidence to another Del Toro-godfathered animated movie, a doll-themed tale that's based on a hit short titled "Alma.""

We've seen plenty of updates about Steven Spielberg's upcoming films Lincoln, The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse, though it's been awhile, around October since his planned film adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson's Robopocalypse made any waves. That changed this evening, when Deadline reported that two studios (Dreamworks & 20th Century Fox) are going to co-finance Robopocalypse with eyes on a July 3, 2013 theatrical release.

Showtime has hit a homerun today by joining forces with Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks TV and Stephen King on an Under The Dome series based on King's best selling novel. Spielberg scooped up the rights shortly after the book was published to strong reviews in November of 2009, and as a result we have this rad show to look forward to.

In a surprising turn of events and without any real explanation Dreamworks has dropped the boxing drama Southpaw , which Eminem was slated to star in. Now writer Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) and attached director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) are expected to shop the project elsewhere for distribution.
The Deadline article indicated the studio might be opting to play it safe with future projects since the less than stellar performance of Cowboys & Aliens, and/or it's possible too many fight films are being made.

Two Antonio Banderas trailers in one day? Well kinda. The second trailer is for Dreamworks Puss in Boots and only features the voice of Banderas, but close enough. The fat cat and best character from the last Shrek movie I saw (Shrek 2) gets his own animated feature film due out this November 4th.
Funny how the last man to don the Zorro outfit will also be the cat impersonating the masked swordsman in this movie.
