Blu-Ray Releases: July 16th, 2013

There are only three movies that should be on your list of movies to buy this week and one of them has a terrible f'ing cover. 42, the Jackie Robinson story, is out for people who want to own or rent and Evil Dead is out on store shelves for you to watch over and over and over again. Just me? Yeah, those special features is what makes me want to purchase a blu-ray in the first place. Plus there's Sly Stallone's Bullet To The Head, which I heard was a fun movie. Take any of these movies for what it's worth.

Spring Break Forever, bitches! Yup, the Harmony Korine film about reckless girls in Miami during spring break is finally out on Blu-ray so if you missed it in its theatrical run now is the time to catch up. Along with the crime film there's the Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace drama, Dead Man Down. If none of that floats your boat, you have a Tyler Perry movie, a movie based on a Stephanie Meyer's book, and a Paul Rudd and Tina Fey romantic-comedy.

Spring Breakers

Blu-Ray Releases: June 18th, 2013

For this week’s Blu-ray releases, it’s definitely quantity over quality.  Six new releases make their way on Blu-ray and/or DVD but some of those releases are clearly lacking in quality.  While I did like it, Movie 43 isn’t the best movie nor is it the movie I would want to rush out and buy.  Same would go for Jack The Giant Slayer and The Last Exorcism Part II.  But if you insist on wanting to buy a movie this week, check out this week’s bloated releases.

You learn about the production of a movie and you blink and it’s in theaters.  Blink again and it lands on store shelves.  It seems as though movies are being rushed to sell on DVD and Blu-ray to help turn a profit.  Oz The Great And Powerful was only released theatrically back in March and now three months later, it’s out to own on Blu-ray.  Snitch makes its way onto Blu-ray just four months after being released. That's a big change from way back when home viewing didn't even exist, isn't it?
