Must See Zombie Film Of The Year

On 20 October the Toronto After Dark film festival gets underway.  The lineup looks to be quite fun, but as I watched the trailers two of them stuck out like sore thumbs:  Some Guy Who Kills People and the world premiere of War of the Dead.

Some Guy Who Kills People is a dark comedy starring the far too underrated Kevin Corrigan as a down trodden man that has been pushed one too many times and decides to take matters into his own hands with what looks like a variety of edged weapons.

Michael Shannon's 'Take Shelter' Takes Grand Prize

One movie I have great anticipation for took home the grand prize at a film festival this weekend.  No, it surprisingly wasn't The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and the winning film wasn't The Ides of March.  

The movie I'm talking about is Take Shelter, which stars Michael Shannon and the increasingly popular Jessica Chastain.  The psychological drama, written and directed by Jeff Nichols beat out 13 other contending films to win top prize at the 37th Deauville American Film Festival on Saturday.

'Human Centipede 2' to Headline, Fantastic Fest 2011

Human Centipede is a Horror-porn flick that really gained a ton of chatter recently after South Park made a spoof about it in the Cent-ipad episode.  It's about a mad scientist who tries to create a new pet by sewing the mouth of tourists to rectum of the other.  It's a sick plot and I don't mean that in a good way.  Well, I guess they think people are ready for more as Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence will headline this year, Fantastic Fest which runs from September 22nd to 29th.

‘Transformers’ Rolls Out at Cannes

The time has almost arrived for the much anticipated Transformers: Dark of the Moon to be released on July 1^st 2011.  The series so far has progresses to be better and better and now the word is this one has pleased the majority.

Michael Bay (the U of A alum) does a great job incorporating more of a story line with some serious action, has been the consensus. At Cannes Film Festival the results were of good news and high anticipation for this action packed film. With this star-studded crew to name a few: Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhmel, Tyrese Gibson, and the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley; this movie should definitely be given a chance.

Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom' Acquired By Focus Features

Wes Anderson's ( Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited, The Royal Tenenbaums ) latest project Moonrise Kingdom has been picked up by Focus features, who has brought such great films to life, including: Lost In Translation, 21 Grams and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Anderson is directing the film and co-wrote with Roman Coppola ( The Darjeeling Limited ). Filming has begun, and Focus Feature International will begin International sales at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
