Sigourney Weaver Reveals 'Avatar 2' & 'Ghostbusters 3' Plot Points

James Cameron favorite, Avatar star Sigourney Weaver created a stir over the weekend with talk about two anticipated sequels.  The actress is currently making the interview rounds for the Taylor Lautner action film Abduction, and revealed major plot points from the future Avatar sequels and Ghostbusters 3.

Is it any surprise reporters are asking Weaver about future installments of blockbuster films instead of the awful-looking Abduction?  Not from where I'm sitting.

The Original 'Ghost Busters' Coming Back to Theaters on Halloween

Finally good news about the Ghost Busters that doesn't involve an ill-advised/Bill Murray-less third installment.  The hit film, originally released in 1984, will arrive back in theaters again in time for Halloween, according to Digital Spy.  That's not all, the movie has been digitally-restored for this one night only release.

Should be a trip down memory lane for some of older folks, watching the great trio of Mr. Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis  together again (no offense to Ernie Hudson).

'Ghostbusters III' to Shoot in Spring Minus Bill Murray?

I ain't afraid of no ghosts.  I'm super afraid of no Bill Murray in Ghostbusters III.  Now that is scary!

Former Ghostbuster and Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd confirmed on Dennis Miller Radio recently that Ghostbusters III is a go and will likely start shooting in spring.  What he couldn't confirm, though he alluded to it throughout the interview was the distinct possibility that Bill Murray won't be returning with him and Harold Ramis.

Ivan Reitman Says Most 'Ghostbusters 3' Reports Are "Not Accurate"

Over the last couple of years, it seems as though Ghostbusters 3 has become the most talked about film without anything "real" being said about it.  Other than the project officially getting writers (Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg) and Ivan Reitman (director of the first film) signing on to direct, we've gotten nothing but speculation.  A lot of which has even come from those directly involved in the franchise itself.

But now, Reitman, someone who with his position we surprisingly haven't heard much from yet, has finally made his voice known.  In an interview with CinemaBlend, the director said that "Virtually everything you’ve read on the internet [about Ghostbusters 3] is not accurate.”

Well alright then.  So what does that mean?

'Ghostbusters 3' Casting Rumors

While Ghostbusters 3 is still in the will-it-ever-get-made phase, it seems there's news that's always pushing it towards the "will be made" end of the spectrum. Despite Bill Murray's objections to making a new Ghostbusters film, it's also been rumored that Dan Aykroyd is reworking the script and that Sony was hoping for a 2011 start date. But now, to go with all these items we've talked about at one time or another, we now have some potential casting news to go with them.
