Gus Van Sant Nabs Matt Damon for Untitled Drama

Director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk) will reunite with Matt Damon once again.  This time it's for the recently abandoned drama that Damon planned to helm himself, only to opt against it a few days ago.  Now the project is back on with Van Sant behind the camera, and with Damon and John Krasinski (The Office) slated to star, according to Deadline.

Deadline reports the film will be "Capraesque", which will see Damon and Krasinski play rival corporate executives.

Taylor Lautner Teams Up With Gus Van Sant For Indie Film

One is an actor whose first (and very possibly, only) success was being hunky and muscled in the Twilight series, and was recently chosen to play the title character in a Stretch Armstrong adaptation.  The other is a director whose films include a socially motivated biopic of gay activist Harvey Milk, and a Columbine massacre-inspired arthouse flick that consisted mostly of students walking silently down hallways.  Makes perfect sense for them to work together, right? Matt Damon Talks Alternate 'Good Will Hunting' Scripts

I've got a huge soft spot for Good Will Hunting.  Anyone that knows me knows why.  I mean, I've got a Good Will Hunting poster hanging in my bedroom as we speak.  Not only is it one of my favorite films, from a film criticism standpoint I can argue its legitimacy as a truly great film.  And that all starts with the script.

Now, some people don't believe Matt Damon and Ben Affleck could have possibly written this script because, to be blunt, Hollywood doesn't believe people under the age of 30 are capable of that level of work behind the camera.  And, from working in Hollywood the last six months, that way of thinking is still unfortunately intact.

In a recent interview with Tom Shone, star and co-writer Matt Damon shared some interesting tidbits about the Good Will Hunting script that involve Terrence Malick, Rob Reiner, and director Gus Van Sant.  One of which involved the death of a major character, and if you're at all a fan of this film this interview is a MUST read.

Movie Preview: Gus Van Sant's 'Restless'

Legendary director Gus Van Sant and Producer Bryce Dallas Howard.

As a big fan of dramatic movies, the trailer for Gus Van Sant's latest movie 'Restless'  looks amazing.  Special thanks to GTBP's own Josh Baldwin for sharing it with us a couple of days ago.   

'Restless' stars Mia Wasikowska, who plays Annabel Cotton, a terminally ill teenage girl that falls in love with a quirky young man named Enoch Brae, who attends funerals and can see the ghost of a Japanese kamikaze pilot from WWII, according to imdb.com. 

Apparently Brae attends these funerals as his own way of overcoming the death of his family, which somehow gives him the ability to see the ghost of the Japanese pilot as a result of that tragedy

Jolie, Franco in Line for 'The Golden Suicides'?

Could it be that Angelina Jolie backed out of Wanted 2 to star in a movie co-written by Gus Van Sant and Bret Easton Ellis? When word first came that Jolie was leaving the Wanted sequel - effectively killing it - the word was that she was lining up a movie called Gravity, a sci-fi piece by Alfonso Cuaron.

But maybe not. Premiere France (via The Playlist) says that she actually passed on a role in Gravity for the opportunity to star in The Golden Suicides with James Franco. We told you about that project before; it's a study of the final days of artists Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake, both of whom committed suicide under very unusual circumstances a couple years ago. Leading to the rumor was a recent Tweet by Ellis: "Keep looking at the script...Angelina and Franco for Theresa and Jeremy?...It doesn't matter...I wrote it for them anyway...I just spaced..."
