New 'Contagion' One-Sheet Is Very Blah!

Contagion is going to be an awesome film.  I know I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch because I have been disappointed before. *Ahem* Watchmen.  But Contagion has everything, a fantastical cast, a great director, and a story that seems solid and a bit scary.  Think of it as "a zombie movie without zombies" movie.  But I can't help but to feel disappointed everytime a new poster comes out.

Two New TV Spots for Soderbergh's 'Contagion'

Soon to grace a theater near you is Steven Soderbergh's thriller Contagion. Pumping up the virus-driven plot of many thrillers that have passed before, with this excellent cast backed by Soderbergh’s directing is looking to be one of the better films of the dwindling summer season transitioning into Oscar season. Two new TV spots for Steven Soderbergh's Contagion have been released from Warner Bros. Pictures. See after the jump.

No Pepper Potts in 'Avengers' Movie

I guess the superhero-packed action movie, The Avengers, doesn't have enough room in the script and budget to have parts for the personal assistants of the superheroes.

Gwyneth Paltrow who plays Pepper Potts in Iron Man confirmed with Collider that she will not be in The Avengers film nor was ever asked to be.  Says Paltrow, "No, no Pepper...I think it's for sure. I think they're starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now."

Trailer - Gwyneth Paltrow is 'Country Strong'

Jeff Bridges struck gold with his portrayal of Bad Blake in Crazy Heart, a role that netted him a much-deserved Academy Award. Clearly, Gwyneth Paltrow is hoping to follow in Bridges' footsteps with her portrayal of a washed up, alcoholic country music singer in Country Strong, which is set to hit theaters in December.

Moviefone just released the first trailer for Country Strong. After watching it, I'm not convinced Paltrow should start practicing her acceptance speech just yet.

Night Shyamalan Already Shopping Next Movie

'Twould be cynical to say M. Night Shyamalan made The Last Airbender because his public image had taken a Van der Slooting over the past three or four years to the point that he had considerable trouble getting studio backing for The Happening. When that received some of the worst reviews of 2008 (although it made enough money to be profitable, if not very successful), it looked like his career would take some serious rebuilding.

So, enter a ready-made hit. One that actually looks pretty good, and one that Night did write and direct per his usual, but that he didn't have to conceptualize. Everything he needs to work with is already in place, by and large. So yes, it might be cynical to look at this as a springboard, except... The writer-director is already talking to studios about what's next, an original project that according to The Hollywood Reporter "loosely" has Gwyneth Paltrow, Bradley Cooper, and Bruce Willis attached to star. Cooper's on his way up, but with A-Team not meeting expectations, I'm not sure the combination of these names sweetens the offer or not.
