Spielberg Chats About 'Indiana Jones 5'

In a recent interview with NY Mag, Steven Spielberg revealed some minor tidbits pertaining to the Indiana Jones franchise.  Spielberg stated that he and George Lucas have indeed been working on another Indiana Jones sequel (part 5), but only in terms of a general idea for the new film.

"I told [Spielberg] about the story, but I really haven't found the MacGuffin yet," he said. "I mean, I know what it's about, but I just have to find a MacGuffin that fits into the arena we're working in."

Spielberg Blames Lucas for 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' Failure?

I wonder who Indy blames?

The overwhelmingly consensus regarding Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is that it was very bad.  Moviegoers, like myself are often quick to place blame on George Lucas for screwing around with the Star Wars trilogy too much, because he seems hell bent on squeezing every penny out of the franchise that he can.  Now, in an interview with Empire Online, while promoting Tintin, his own pal Steven Spielberg puts the blame on Lucas when he was asked about Indy 4.

Harrison Ford Talks 'Indy 5' & What He Won't Do

Last night GTBP's Mario Melidona wrote about a special screening of the Raiders of the Lost Ark to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary, which was attended and led by guest hosts Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford.  The pair spoke about the landmark film and held a little Q&A session with fans.

During that time, Ford was asked about the possibility of returning for a fifth Indiana Jones film, and his response was quite funny.

'Raiders of the Lost Ark' Q&A Session With Steven Spielberg

One can hail this screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark at The LA Times Hero Complex 30^th Anniversary Screening as seminal proof of geekdom as well as worshiping at the feet of an all time great director, Steven Spielberg.  Now I don't mean this in any derogatory manner, because (as I've cynically overlooked) I'm a sort of geek as well when it comes to horror movies and television.  Lucky for most of you, Collider has some bullet points of the event, as well as the attendance of a special guest.

Shia LaBeouf Thinks 'Indiana Jones 5' Will Be On Fast Track

Shia LaBeouf has much more credibility than me when it comes to when Indiana Jones 5 will be developed but I question his reasoning on this one.  As you know, after the last disastrous revival of Indiana Jones, Lucas and Spielberg are interested in giving it another go.  I trust it'll be better than Indiana Jones 4.  In an interview with MTV, Shia LaBeouf was asked for his opinion on when he believes Indiana Jones 5 will begin production.  

Says LaBeouf, "I talked to [Harrison Ford]...he said he's staying in the gym, he said he's heard no word, but he does know that [George Lucas] is out there looking for a MacGuffin. He said he's staying in the gym, so it means [the movie is] not so far off."
