'Zombieland' Duo Together Again in 'Now You See Me'

The two guys that found creative ways to make zombies disappear will reunite and try to follow suite as magicians in the new film Now You See Me.  Zombieland stars Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson will team up with Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, Isla Fisher and Melanie Laurent in Louis Leterrier's "magic heist."  Harrelson replaces Jake Gyllenhaal's mentalist character, who's "known for his Jedi-style mind tricks." 

In Now You See Me, Eisenberg, Fisher, Laurent and Harrelson play a magic quartet called the Four Horsmen, who rob banks during their magic act.

First Trailer for 'Burke and Hare'

The first trailer for the remake of 'Burke and Hare' is here, courtesy of traileraddict.com.  The upcoming dark comedy stars Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis as a pair of 19th century grave robbers who discover that providing cadavers for the local medical school can be quite profitable.

Pegg, Serkis In New Historical Serial Killer Comedy

Here's a movie I wouldn't mind seeing: Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Tom Wilkinson, and Isla Fisher in a horror comedy directed by John Landis. The Hollywood Reporter says that Burke and Hare is based on the UK's first serial killers, predating Jack the Ripper by about 60 years. Well, that sure sounds like the basis for a comedy, doesn't it?

The story goes that in the 1820s, the two Irish immigrants and gravediggers began a killing spree for profit, selling the bodies of their 17 victims to an anatomy instructor who would then use the corpses in his lectures. Ghoulish, but with Pegg and Serkis as the graverobbers it could be very, very fun.

New Comedies Being Developed for Isla Fisher

Although the film whiffed at being a faithful adaptation of the source material or an entertaining alternative to it, Confessions of a Shopaholic at the very least gave us a whole lot of Isla Fisher, and Universal thinks we need more of her. The studio is developing two new star vehicles for Mrs. Borat, and she's adding a title to her business card to boot.

Fisher will star in and co-produce a comedy called Life Coach, in which a woman seeks out life advice from someone who ought not be dispensing any. On that film, she'll produce alongside the Gary Sanchez boys, who include Adam McKay and Will Ferrell.

Confessions of a Shopaholic Starring Isla Fisher, Hugh Dancy, and Krysten Ritter Directed by P.J. Hogan Rated PG

I am fascinated less by the films themselves, but there is something to be analyzed in these movies that draw in viewers with the allure of high glamour and fashion but ultimately reject the expensive brand names as evil and soul-stealing. True, Sex and the City, which started the current trend, has an unabashed love affair for the clothes in its very well-dressed New York City, but labels are just accessories to dehumanized characters in The Devil Wears Prada, and certainly it exists on TV in Ugly Betty, where only the shallow, evil people wear the good threads. Confessions of a Shopaholic sounds like a funny title, but seriously, the girl's got issues. Rebecca Bloomwood - a name that simply belongs in the movies - owes thousands upon thousands of dollars. She lives rent-free with her best friend because she can't pay all the bills and swing the credit cards, too. She lies to important people about unimportant things, and worse, about important things, all because she has a compulsion. Replace booze with shoes, and it's like Leaving Louis Vuitton. Rebecca (Isla Fisher from Wedding Crashers and Definitely Maybe) is a writer by trade, which raises another question: Why is it that the only women in New York this mad about fashion work in publishing? In her first step towards shopping sobriety, Rebecca takes a job at a financial magazine, and if you don't get the irony, that's OK; it's explained six or eight times in the movie. Naturally, she falls for her boss (Hugh Dancy). There are good reasons for that: He's the only single male character under 40 in the entire movie, it saves us from needing an additional character down the road, and his name's Hugh. Everyone knows that in romantic comedies, the heroine always makes a beeline for the English Hugh with tousled hair. It can't be helped.
