'Horrible Bosses’ has Something to Relate

Horrible Bosses is a movie about a group of guys that are tortured at work and they feel the only way out is to get rid of their bosses, permanently. We get to see why their bosses are so horrible, as well as their may thwarted plans to carry out their missions to get rid of them. I am sure many of us can relate to Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis.

In the film we get see a plethora of stars assist this trio plan to get rid of their bosses that are making their work lives miserable. Some of their work lives are more bearable then others, but to each their own.

Comedy + Murder = New Trailer for 'Horrible Bosses'

I'm certain most diehard fans of the short-lived Fox series Arrested Development  would tell you how great it is to see Jason Bateman come into his own on the big screen since the cancellation of that underappreciated sitcom.  The new comedy titled Horrible Bosses, due out this summer pits three close friends, Bateman, Charlie Day (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Jason Sudeikis (Hall Pass, Saturday Night Live) against each of their respective evil bosses, whom after swapping work-related horror stories about decide they want to murder to help one another out.

Movie Review - 'Just Go With It'

Just Go With It Starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker Directed by Dennis Dugan Rated PG-13

Just Go With It seems like an apropos title for Adam Sandler's latest film, since I imagine it was a familiar refrain on the set. "Do we really need three different scenes featuring a guy getting hit in the groin?" "Just go with it." "Are we really having Dave Matthews pick up a coconut with his butt cheeks?" "Just go with it." "We aren't really having a kid poop on Nick Swardson's hand, are we?" "Just go with it."

In this film, once again Adam Sandler plays an ultra-successful man-child who gets entangled in a messy situation thanks to a series of wacky, contrived circumstances. This time around he is Danny, a wealthy plastic surgeon who was scorned by his fiancée on their wedding day 20 years ago, so he's decided to spend his life pretending to be married, which allows him to pick up girls using a sob story about his terrible wife and to avoid any real commitment after he hooks up with these girls.

This horrible, pathetic plan has worked for the past 20 years, but then he meets Palmer (Brooklyn Decker), who he inexplicably falls for instantly and is willing to settle down with after spending only one day together. However, Palmer finds the fake wedding ring in his pocket and thinks he is married, so Danny must convince his office manager, Katherine (Jennifer Aniston), to pretend to be his soon-to-be-ex-wife in order to keep seeing Palmer. Katherine is divorced with two kids so through yet another wacky misunderstanding, Palmer thinks the kids are Danny's and wants to get to know them better too.

2010 Razzie Nominations Revealed

With the 2010 Oscar Nominations only a day away, the annual Hollywood backlash that is the Razzie Awards announced their nominees today.  In case you didn't know, the Golden Raspberry Foundation's Razzies recognize the "worst" Hollywood had to offer this past year.  I put the word worst in quotes because it seems as these awards go on that they have shifted from poking fun at the truly terrible to the films and those in them that have the most stigma attached (hello Twilight saga).

Movie Review - 'The Switch'

The Switch Starring Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston Directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck Rated PG-13

Set in New York City, The Switch is a formulaic romantic comedy that spans seven years of a friendship between Wally Mars (Jason Bateman) and Kassie Larson, (Jennifer Aniston) beginning with Kassie deciding that she is going to have a child. Not having a man in her life, Kassie finds a sperm donor (Patrick Wilson) and throws herself an "I'm Getting Pregnant" party. The disapproving, jealous Wally discovers the specimen cup, trades the donor’s “ingredients” for his, and hilarity ensues.

This comedy gives exactly what it promises: A fun, high-stakes plot line, witty dialogue, an irresistible child, (Thomas Robinson) and a Hollywood ending. Along the way, Bateman is even able to draw some tears from the audience as his attachment to this six-year-old boy grows.

So, why only three apes? The movie gets off to a slow start. While Bateman and Aniston’s scenes are driven and cute, many of the others seem contrived. Wally’s best friend and boss, Leonard, played by Jeff Goldblum, seems to have been written as a cynical, yet funny and caring friend. Goldblum’s interpretation however, leads one to wonder why Leonard would give a crap about his friend’s thirteen-year crush on Kassie or the debacle he has gotten himself into. Seemingly distracted and disengaged in most of the scenes, Leonard came across more as a self absorbed or mildly autistic. Similarly, Kassie’s best friend, Debbie, played by Juliette Lewis, though more acceptably eccentric, added nothing to the story line but a few mildly disgusting one-liners: “I’ve had orgasms longer than his relationships.” Eeew. Both of these characters seemed to exist only for the purpose of easy exhibition as Wally and Kassie tell them how they feel about the other.

The best thing about this film is Wally’s scenes with Sebastian. Jason Bateman has a wonderful natural candor about him which works very well both with the text and little Robinson. The two of them and their mounting similarities are great to watch and lend the perfect amount of chemistry needed to earn this film’s ending.
