‘Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes’ to Reel in Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel is in final negotiations to join Kayla Scodelario (Skins) in the film Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes.  According to Variety, writer/director Francseca Gregorini’s (Tanner Hall) film is about a pair of psychologically damaged young women who obsess and go crazy over life-like dolls.  Biel will take the role of Linda and will play opposite Scodelario’s Emanuel.  Gregorini had originally wanted to reunite with his Tanner Hall star, Rooney Mara (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), but scheduling got in the way.

Trailer To 'Valentines Day' Sequel 'New Year's Eve'

I am ashamed to admit that I did actually enjoy Valentine's Day, but my enjoyment was minuscule; if that could save me from having my man card revoked.  The film wasn’t well received by critics and even GTBP gave it 2 Damn Dirty Apes and I understand why.  Now, a trailer has been released for the sequel, New Year's Eve.

Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale & Bill Nighy Round Out Cast for the 'Total Recall' Reboot

The second go-around for Total Recall just got a whole lot prettier tonight, as Collider has confirmed reports that both Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale have officially joined Len Wiseman's reboot.  The two beauties will serve as female love interests of the film's main character Doug Quaid/Hauser played by Colin Farrell, while veteran actor Bill Nighy (Underworld series) will reprise the role of the resistance leader Quatto in this newest installment of the Phillip K. Dick inspired classic. 

Beckinsale a.k.a Mrs. Len Wiseman will play the role of Quaid's real life wife Lori, previously held by Sharon Stone in Paul Verhoeven's original Total Recall, who betrays him.

Actress Shortlist for 'Superman's Lois Lane

Now that we've got our next Superman, Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder have begun their search for his counterpart in Lois Lane.  A few actresses have already come in to read for the part, a few more have been asked to come in, and one has even screen tested.

David O. Russell Abandons Troubled 'Nailed'

Finally, some common sense. I've never understood why Hollywood believes that walking away from a project is a last resort. When so much money is on the line and when so much money is involved with just releasing a film, sometimes you're better off just never getting to that point, especially when so many hurdles are thrown in your path.

I feel that way about The Hobbit, and I'm glad to see that the next James Bond movie isn't happening until the financial side gets sorted out, and now there's an update on Nailed, a project David O. Russell has been nurturing for a couple of years. It's a political satire starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel about a waitress shot in the head with a nail gun, and when she heads to Washington to testify for the need of better health care, falls into a relationship with a brainless congressman. Russell has walked off the project after a round of negotiations with Ronald Tutor, who is in line to run Miramax and said recently he doesn't foresee himself running the operations day-to-day. In fact, he said he doesn't really care about the film business. But after the director and the financier met and couldn't come to an agreement, it was the last straw for the notably mercurial Russell.
