Farrelly Brothers Finally Making 'Dumb & Dumber' Sequel!

Earlier in the year, there were rumblings of a new Dumb & Dumber.  Now that the Farrelly Brothers have wrapped up production on The Three Stooges, reports are they will bring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne back for a Dumb & Dumber 2 as their next project.  

The hit comedy, released in 1994 always seemed destined for a sequel, but Carrey became a huge star (not so much anymore) and the Farrellys went on to make other good comedies like There's Something About Mary and Kingpin, two of my favorites.

Jim Carrey in Talks for Magician Comedy with Steve Carell

Jim Carrey and a comedy about magicians seem like a match made in heaven (10+years ago).  Throw in Steve Carell and poof...Things could really get funny in a hurry.  Word is Carrey is in negotiations to join the comedy Burt Wonderstone, presumably as a co-star to Carell.

The story centers around a Las Vegas magician, Burt Wonderstone (Carell) who breaks up with his long time stage partner to take his act solo.

Trailer for Jim Carrey's 'Mr. Popper's Penguins' is Short on Laughs

 

When the funniest part of a trailer is a dude getting pegged in the balls with a kicked soccer ball, 9 times out of 10 that movie is going to suck...well...balls.  Jim Carrey's new comedy Mr. Popper's Penguins definitely fits the bill in that regard, and may soon find itself in a tug of war with The Smurfs for this summer's worst looking movie. 

Mark Waters, the director that gave us such masterpieces as Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, helms this story of a businessman (Carrey) who inherits half a dozen penguins to keep in his apartment.

Farrelly Brothers 'Dumb and Dumber' Sequel is a Go

The Farrelly Brothers, while promoting their current movie Hall Pass in a recent press junket, released news about a planned follow-up to the 1994 smash hit Dumb and Dumber.  Brother Bobby Farrelly even mentioned in an interview with Moviehole how great it would be to reunite former funny man Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels again as the pair of jackasses, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne for the next film. 

"[Dumb and Dumber] has run a bunch of times on TV in the states, and kids will come up and they'll be able to quote lines from that--lines that I've long forgotten.  If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a worthwhile sequel--and that ball is in motion," Bobby said.

Beatles Time Travel Comedy 'Get Back' Moving Forward

As a lifelong Beatles fan, I really don't know how to feel about this.  On one hand, I really REALLY don't want to see one of the greatest bands of all time put through the ringer in a stupid comedy.  But, on the other, it could be kind of fun if pulled off well (ala Fanboys).  Either way, Get Back, a comedy about "two die-hard Beatles fans who, upon discovering a time machine, travel back in time to prevent John Lennon from ever meeting Yoko Ono, who they blame for breaking up the group."
