James Gray Nets Joaquin Phoenix & Marion Cotillard for 'Low Life'. Jeremy Renner Next?

James Gray's next film Low Life is currently on the fast track to production town and has landed him one of Hollywood's hottest actresses in Marion Cotillard.  The film also reunites the writer/director with one of his favorite actors in bounce back candidate Joaquin Phoenix (pictured below w/Gray), who has starred in 3 of his 4 feature films (We Own the Night, Two Lovers and The Yards).

Deadline also reports that highly-sought after actor Jeremy Renner is currently in negotiations to join Phoenix and Cotillard as the third lead in the period piece about a woman immigrate from Poland (Cotillard) who sails to the U.S. in search of the American dream.

They're Back! Joaquin Phoenix & Phillip Seymour Hoffman Confirmed for Paul Thomas Anderson's Next Film

The man who was responsible for creating Punch Drunk Love, one of my all time favorite movies has plans to dust off the 'ol camera and bust out the other various pieces of filmmaking equipment again soon to helm an exciting new untitled project formally known as The Master. 

That's right director Paul Thomas Anderson will return to the motion picture biz to make a film starring previously retired actor Joaquin Phoenix (Awesome rap artist) and Oscar winner Phillip Seymour Hoffman, according to Deadline.  This will be the first film Anderson has worked on since his smash hit There Will Be Blood back in 2007.

Clint Eastwood Was Right. DiCaprio to Play Hoover

Yesterday, we reported that Clint Eastwood was moving full steam ahead filling out his actor roster for his upcoming film, 'Hoover', banking that Leo will sign.  Today, it's confirmed that DiCaprio will indeed play the role of J. Edgar Hoover opposite of Joaquin Phoenix (offer was made to him and I think he'll sign).  

This creates an all-star team like the Miami Heat.  Eastwood, DiCaprio, Dustin Black (writer of 'Milk' who won an academy award for best screenplay) and Joaquin Phoenix.

Clint Eastwood Doesn't Wait on DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio should know by now that Dirty Harry doesn't wait for anyone.  That doesn't mean he's going to find a replacement for the role of FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover, for his new film 'Hoover' but he's betting that DiCaprio signs and he's already pegged another actor to play opposite of DiCaprio as Clyde Tolson, the associate FBI director.  Contingent upon DiCaprio signing, Eastwood made an offer to someone who recently came back to earth after spending too much time with Diddy, Joaquin Phoenix.  Many people believe that what forced Casey Affleck to come clean about his movie, 'I'm Still Here' is because it would jeopardize Joaquin Phoenix's chances to land this role.

Shocking 'I'm Still Here' Revelation: It's All a Hoax

Director Casey Affleck let slip last week that at least parts of his documentary I'm Still Here were faked. I don't think anybody's really been fooled all along, and now that the movie has been released (to generally poor reviews), he's giving up the ghost altogether.

Affleck today admitted to the New York Times that the whole film is, in fact, staged. He gives a fairly decent reason: "he wanted audiences to experience the film’s narrative," reports the Times, "about the disintegration of celebrity, without the clutter of preconceived notions." Fair enough. Except that it was so transparently all staged that the ruse never really worked.
