I love Edgar Allan Poe. There's no beating any of his richly dramatic and nearly tragic end for many of his short stories. In particular, his most famous poem "The Raven" has been adapted into the John Cusack movie that has little to do with the particular poem, but a combination of the author's oeuvre. And so, we now have a new poster for The Raven.

Today we can thank the folks at Millennium Films for giving us something to look forward to, courtesy of their retro poster release. The poster is for the upcoming Lee Daniels directed flick, The Paperboy, and marks Daniels follow-up to his Oscar nominated Precious. The Paperboy stars Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron.
Efron fans should be excited to see him step into some serious storytelling and get support from a rock-solid cast.

It looks like John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville will be heading down to Rio de Janeiro early next year to begin filming the comedy Carnaval. According to THR, the two of them have signed on to appear in the Stone Village-produced project that will be helmed by Josh Stern.
Before you dismiss the apparent strange pairing, keep in mind that Mr. Cusack excels in off-beat buddy comedies, and Knoxville has shown some acting prowess beyond being able to withstand getting kicked in the crotch by wild horses.

John Cusack stars as Edgar Allan Poe in this long awaited thriller The Raven. Cusack plays the famous author in this fictionalized story of Poe's final days, which find him in pursuit of a serial killer whose mocking his stories. And naturally the authorities believe Poe himself is responsible for these crimes of murder, until they realize he can be a huge asset in helping them catch the killer.

So I love John Cusak. I mean who doesn't? And I'm a fan of what director James McTeigue has given audiences (both solo and with the Wachowski Brothers) thus far. So combine the two and I should be excited about the outcome, right? Right?...
Well unfortunately the project they've come together for is a period piece thriller where Cusak plays Edgar Allen Poe and goes all Liam-Neeson-in-Taken on Londontown. The film is called The Raven, and no it's not based on the idea brought to light in the underappreciated prematurely canceled series Party Down (10 gold stars if you know what I'm talking about).
