'Mirror, Mirror' Trailer Shows Us Way Too Much Julia Roberts

In an earlier post, we mentioned that Immortals director Tarsem Singh was directing a re-imagining of the classic Snow White story titled Mirror, Mirror.  Now we've got a trailer for it.  Something I'd like to stress is that even though it deals with the same broad subject matter as Snow White and the Huntsmen (which also had a recently released trailer), it is clearly going for a different atmosphere and the two should not be strongly compared.  Especially when its looks so terrible on its own merits.

Ryan Reynolds Shines in New 'Fireflies in the Garden' Trailer

It's had to have been a kinda rough summer for Ryan Reynolds.  The Green Lantern and The Change-Up seemed destined to kill at the box office not be killed.  Luckily, the actor has a film, Fireflies in the Garden, he completed almost three years ago that will finally see the light of day this fall, coming to theaters on October 15th.

Hanks and Roberts Have Awkward Encounter in First Clip From 'Larry Crowne'

Here's an odd recipe: take the foreign kid from That 70's Show, throw him in with the stars of Charlie Wilson's War, give them a script co-written by the My Big Fat Greek Wedding lady, under the direction of the guy who did That Thing You Do!, and give it a title that sounds confusingly similar to a Steve McQueen movie (which was also remade as a pretty great Pierce Brosnan/Rene Russo vehicle). Well, okay, so at least a couple of the people I just referenced are Tom Hanks: he co-wrote, directed, and co-stars in Larry Crowne, which does not seem to involve museum heists whatsoever.

Hanks was on Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night, and among many other things he talked about his upcoming movie. It's only his second turn as a director (his first, the previously-mentioned That Thing You Do!, was 15 years ago). It's co-written by Nia Vardalos, and co-stars Julia Roberts and Wilmer Valderrama. Hanks was also kind enough to show a clip from the film, which we've got for you to check out below.

Julia Roberts to Play Evil Queen in 'The Brothers Grimm: Snow White?'

If you're not aware, there are currently two Snow White films being produced and one of them is Relativity Media's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White while the other is Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman.

Last December, we reported that Relativity was going after Natalie Portman to fill the role of Snow White and now we hear that Julia Roberts is currently negotiating to plan the evil queen.  This version of the story will be more of the classic Snow White story and will be directed by Tarsem Singh.  Melisa Wallack wrote the script.

Universal Sets Movie Release Dates

Universal has added more movies to the growing list of releases for us to look forward to from 2011-2013, according to deadline.com The release dates for movies like the 'Fast Five' (June 21, 2011), which is a sequel to the 'Fast and Furious' , and the movie adaptation of the popular board game 'Battleship' (May 18, 2011) have been previously set.

 

Here's a list of other exciting, future titles coming to us from Universal.  Descriptions of the movies weren't available...Sorry.

July 11, 2011: 'Larry Crowne' starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts (ugh), Directed by Hanks

February 10, 2012: 'Safe House' starring Ryan Reynolds  and Denzel Washington, Directed by Daniel Espinosa

March 16, 2012:  'Contraband' starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale, Directed by Baltasar Kormakur

June 1, 2012: 'Untitled Judd Apatow' written and directed by Apatow
