Spielberg Entertaining 'Jurassic Park 4'

Arguably one of the greatest producer/directors in the game, Steven Spielberg, is looking to add another chapter to the Jurassic Park library, and is in talks with writer Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Posiedon) to pen the revival reports THR.  Director Joe Johnston (Captain America, Jurassic Park III) has been in talks for years to direct, but that is all anything is at this point.

Joe Johnston on 'Captain America' and 'Jurassic Park'

Joe Johnston, perhaps in an effort to deflect more conversations about The Wolfman, is talking about his next film, The First Avenger: Captain America, which is the last of the pre-Avengers Avengers movies, opening in July of next year.

He tells Box Office Magazine one thing about Captain America I'm glad to hear: "It's the origin story of Captain America. It's mostly period - there are modern, present-day bookends on it—but it's basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America." The cool thing about that, even though Johnston adds that it "goes off in a completely different direction," is that most of this film will take place around World War II, and that's a welcome change from the Metropoli and Gothams, not that I have anything against them.

'Jurassic Park III' Director Wants 'Jurassic Park IV'

Jurassic Park IV? Don't count it out yet, I guess.

Director Joe Johnston, brought in by Universal to take over The Wolfman from Mark Romanek, helmed the third and least appealing Jurassic Park about a decade ago, and he tells Ain't It Cool News he would consider answering the bell again. Unless I missed something this year, the producers of the trilogy have not warmed to the idea yet, so this could be hypothetical. "There is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with, and it’s nothing like the first three," Johnston says. "It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved.”

Producers Say 'Jurassic Park IV' Not Likely

I remember a time when you would go to a junket for a movie and find out little stories about that movie. These days, though, it seems that they just serve to springboard a mostly unrelated project to the forefront.

Producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy recently talked to Coming Soon about their brand new film in theaters this month called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but the headline seems to be another Jurassic Park movie, as in, there won't be another Jurassic Park movie.Said Kennedy of plans to make Jurassic Park IV, which has been slowly brewing for about four or five years, "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."
