Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden Movie Adds Four More to Killer Cast

Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life), Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and Edgar Ramirez (The Bourne Ultimatum) are the latest additions to Kathryn Bigelow’s much anticipated, yet still untitled, Bin Laden movie.  They’ll co-star in the drama portraying Navy SEAL Team 6′s long hunt for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden.  

The ensemble cast is set to include; Jason Clarke, Chris Pratt, Joel Edgerton, Idris Elba, Rooney Mara, Jennifer Ehle (The King’s Speech), Guy Pearce, Tom Hardy, and Nina Arianda (Tower Heist).

Top-Secret Access to Bin Laden Raid for Kathryn Bigelow?

In a very odd sort of news, Kathryn Bigelow, the Oscar-wining director of The Hurt Locker, is accused of having Top-Secret access to information about the killing of Osama bin Laden.  This might not be so much of an attack on the director for being a civilian and reading all the secret details, but on President Obama and the White House "granting" the rights to Bigelow.  How this accusation all started and the details is actually a bit suspicious and interesting.

To start, Bigelow has a film in development that chronicles the events leading up to the raid that eventually killed Bin Laden which gained lots of steam after the killing.  Now, in an August 6th edition of The New York Times, Columnist Maureen Dowd wrote that the White House administration are giving "top level access to the most classified mission in history."

Kathryn Bigelow to Direct Movie About Osama Bin Laden?

With many of us still in total disbelief regarding last night's shocking news about the death of infamous Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, I guess it was only a matter of time before folks in Hollywood decided to make a movie about his story.  Today Deadline reports, The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow is in the pre-production stages of an indie film that is possibly about this subject. 

Previous reports indicated Bigelow was working on a movie called Held by the Taliban, based on a series of articles by journalist David Rohde, although various rumors had her working on a "black ops" thriller about the hunt for Bin Laden.

'Triple Frontier' Casts Tom Hanks for Lead Role

Triple Frontier is Kathryn Bigelow's follow up to the critical acclaimed film, Hurt Locker.  The plot of the movie has yet to be disclosed, but one can guess it centers around the Triple Frontier which is the tri-border area between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil.  The Triple Frontier is known for organized crime and illicit activities.

Today, the film's producer Charles Roven confirmed Tom Hanks' involvement by stating, "Tom Hanks is starring in the film, and we're still looking to cast the other roles. We're hoping to start shooting the movie sometime in mid-March."

Will Smith, Christian Bale in Bigelow's 'Triple Frontier'

What do you when you just won the Oscar for Best Director, and what do you do when you're still one of the world's biggest movie stars? If you're Kathryn Bigelow and Will Smith, you find a way to work together.

This is really quite a story. The Wrap received a memo with a bunch of new Paramount productions, although we'll focus on this one. Anyway, a rep from the studio told The Wrap some of the stuff in the memo is accurate and some isn't. But that could be studio speak - they like to deny everything - and it could be that some of the many deals listed in the memo haven't been sealed, so the studio can't actually comment on them. As for this project, it's Triple Frontier, the same Bigelow-Mark Boal movie with Javier Bardem and Sean Penn that sprouted up a while ago. However, Denzel Washington is no longer in line for it. Smith and Christian Bale are the new names on board. Damn good cast. Damn good.
