First Trailer for 'My Week with Marilyn'

Michelle Williams has some tough shoes or bra to fill in her portrayal of America's favorite blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming movie My Week with Marilyn.  More importantly, we won't have to wait until the movie's November 4th theatrical release to see how she does, because the film's  first trailer is right here for your viewing pleasure.

The story isn't a biopic of the sex symbol, but rather a story told from the perspective of Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), a young assistant who worked for Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) when he starred in the movie The Prince and the Showgirl  with Monroe in 1957.

'Thor 2' Coming in Summer 2013, Minus Director Kenneth Branagh

C'mon was there any doubt there wouldn't be a sequel to Thor?

Deadline reports that Marvel and Disney have given the go-ahead for Thor 2, and are projecting a 2013 summer release with a more specific date expected to be announced later today.  Chris Hemsworth will reprise the role of Thor. The only real surprise is that director Kenneth Branagh won't be returning, calling the decision to part ways from the project "mutual and amicable".

Marvel is currently in production with Joss Whedon's The Avengers, so it'll likely put the directorial search on hold for the time being.

First 'Thor' Poster Hints at Tone

Today we get our first look at the teaser poster for Kenneth Branagh's upcoming Thor. Combined with the trailer description from earlier today, it seems that Thor's marketing campaign is about to heat up.

The poster gives me the impression that the film may take a more serious tone than we're used to from the other Marvel superhero movies. See what I mean below.

Photos Released for Upcoming 'Thor'

Set to be released on May 6th of 2011, Kenneth Branagh's Thor follows the tale of the mythical warrior as he is cast out of the realm of Asgard to live with the humans of Earth. This is another installment Marvel's ongoing attempt to bring all of it's superheroes to the big screen. 

Think it's a little strange that Branagh is directing a Marvel movie? Well, so did Natalie Portman, one of the stars of the film, who so eloquently said, "I just thought it sounded like a weird idea because Kenneth Branagh's directing it. So, I was just like: 'Kenneth Branagh doing Thor is super weird, I've gotta do it."

Effective Five-Minute 'Thor' Trailer from Comic-Con

At the risk of giving away entirely too much, here's the five-minute Comic-Con trailer for Thor that took a couple weeks to remain available online in a high quality format. Kudos to The Movie Pool for tracking it down.

My two concerns going in (three if you count Kenneth Branagh never working in this style before) were who would play the Norse God and how they'd depict Asgard. Well, I like Chris Hemsworth the more that I see him and from the establishing shots of Asgard seen here, I'm OK with it. A little like Cloud City from Empire Strikes Back, but that's probably a better angle than trying to make it exactly like the comic. Again, it's five minutes long (there seems to be s a dead minute at the end), so it could be showing too much too soon. For instance, the dialogue is really poor outside of Clark Gregg, the connective tissue between this film and the rest of the Avengers movies. But as an effects-laden action movie, it looks pretty good. Of course, so did Wolverine.
