Kurt Russell Takes Costner's Place in 'Django Unchained'?

This dude knows westernsLess than a week ago, it was widely reported that Kevin Costner had withdrawn from Quentin Tarantino's upcoming western Django Unchained.  Costner's scheduling conflict was Kurt Russell's gain, as he's now entered talks to take the role of evil Calvin Candie's (Leonardo DiCaprio) employee Ace Woody, THR reports.

If it Russell signs on to the cast, it will mark the first time Russell has worked with QT since the underwhelming Death Proof.

So goes Quentin Tarantino's quest to one-up his own cast on every new film.  What's surprising with his latest film, a Sergio Leone-style Spaghetti Western, is the eclectic cast that bodes a very promising ensemble. Kevin Costner to Play Superman's Daddy

In an interview with LA Times, Director Zack Snyder confirmed that Kevin Costner will be playing the role of Jonathan Kent, also known as the husband of Martha and Clark Kent's dad.  He also gave some more hints about the plot.  For one, the film will not be a prequel or sequel to any of the previous versions of the superhero.

Trailer - Affleck and Costner in 'The Company Men'

We saw a different trailer a few months ago for The Company Men, a new drama by John Wells that seems to tap into the very real uncertainty of the current job market. That trailer was a lot less invovled than this one, which gives the full story and even has dialogue.

Wells is one of the executive producers of E/R, and he even directed a few episodes, but this is his feature directing debut. He's got Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Costner, and Chris Cooper - Oscar winners all - coming to terms with the new unstable economy. For spousal support, we're offered Maria Bello and Rosemarie DeWitt. The Weinstein Company will be releasing this film in October. It's too early to tell if Harvey and Bob will marshal all their forces behind The Company Men for an Oscar push, but after failing big time with Nine last year, pretty much across the board, any Oscar campaign will be a little more muted this year.
