Latest 'Kung Fu Panda Trailer' Hints a Butt Kickin' Good Time!

Kung Fu Panda in 3D?  Sign me up!

The latest trailer for the sophomore followup to Kung Fu Panda shows much more of the film than the staring contest trailer that was released couple months ago.  This one showcases a good amount of the humor, beautiful animation sequences and some of the awesome action in the film.  

I thoroughly enjoyed the first one.

Kung Fu Panda 2 Trailer Released

DreamWorks Animation has just released a one minute teaser for Kung Fu Panda 2, which is set to release next year on May 26th.  Everyone is back for the voice overs with some new folks (like JCVD!) as well for the sequel of one of DreamWorks' finest animated films.

They are Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Gary Oldman, Michelle Yeoh, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Victor Garber.  In the film, Po and the Furious Five battles a villain with a secret weapon to rule china and destroy kung fu.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Joins 'Kung Fu Panda 2'

I hate to say it, Pixar fans, but I'm really looking forward to Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, and if the Lasseteers only have Cars 2 in their corner next summer, Pixar's playing catch-up.

First, Panda was a lot of fun, certainly a better time at the movies than Cars was. It also made a healthy amount of money and the sequel should easily replicate that. Cars was bigger in the US, and the sequel might be, too, but I'd much rather see Kaboom of Doom. An already intriguing development - Charlie Kaufman writing something for the movie - was followed up by the hiring of Gary Oldman. Now Coming Soon has confirmed with DreamWorks that Michelle Yeoh, Victor Garber, and Jean-Claude Van Damme are in the cast. JCVD FTW!

Gary Oldman Brings the Kaboom to 'Kung Fu Panda'

A week ago, the story was that Charlie Kaufman was writing or rewriting or touching up what is very likely a small part of the script for Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom. This week, the story's about another cool addition to the sequel: Gary Oldman will be joining the voice cast, the first major newcomer announced so far.

The sequel concerns Po (Jack Black) and his quest to find other pandas and a conflict with a group of bandits. According to Heat Vision, Oldman will play "a character named Peacock who helps Po find the bandits but is more than he seems." Classic Gary Oldman, say I.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless 'Kung-Fu Panda'

Of all people, Charlie Kaufman has been working on the script for Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom.

Yeah, Kaufman, best known as the out-of-the-mainstream genius who crafted Being John Malkovich, Adaptation., and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has just completed a couple weeks' worth of work polishing the screenplay, according to The Hollywood Reporter. What an odd pairing. The first Panda was not only a big hit for DreamWorks, it was also a quality animated movie, and clearly, the expectations will be high for the follow-up, which comes out next summer. Even still, this is either the exact right move or the exact wrong move, because Kaufman's tendencies aren't usually of the family-friendly talking animal variety.
