Kind of First Look at Daniel Day-Lewis as 'Lincoln'

I was excited to hear Daniel Day-Lewis was coming out of his usual hiatus (one movie every three years or so) to play the 16th President of the U.S. for Steven Spielberg in Lincoln.  We have the first semi-legit pic of Mr. Day-Lewis as the guy on the $5 bill minus the top hat and presidential garb.  Thanks to twitter user UVAMichael, we get a glance at the Oscar-winning actor donning the mutton chops and beard during chow time.

Spielberg Nabs Jared Harris for Key Role in 'Lincoln'

Jared Harris is the son of the late Richard Harris (Harry Potter), so the acting blood lines are there.  He's been a recurring character on AMC hit series Mad Men, and plays Sherlock Holmes villain Professor Moriarty in A Game of Shadows coming out December 16 next.  

Variety reports today, Steven Spielberg has cast Harris as Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant in his star studded biopic Lincoln.  Harris joins noteworthy performers Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tommy Lee Jones in this epic film adaptation of the biography "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Jackie Earle Haley Added to Spielberg's 'Lincoln' Cast

The cast for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln just added it's first Confederate role player.  Deadline reported earlier, Jackie Earle Haley (Nightmare on Elm Street,Watchmen) will play the vice president of the Confederate States, Alexander Stephens in Lincoln.  Stephens was strongly opposed to Lincoln's anti-slavery legislation, which was put to an end by Lincoln.  It's good to brush up on American history from time to time.

Steven Spielberg Gives an Update on 'Lincoln'

Film master Steven Spielberg is finally giving up the goods on his Lincoln movie starring the great Daniel Day-Lewis as America's 16th president.  The busy director discussed the project with The Orlando Sentinel, as he prepares to start shooting in Richmond, Virginia.

The film is based upon Doris Kearns Goodwin's "The Team of Rivals", which detailed the span of Lincoln's entire career in office.  However, Spielberg's project will instead focus on only a portion of Honest Abe's presidency.

Bekmambetov Directing 'Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

Over the weekend, I finally got around to listening to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. So far, it's a bit slow. I like the writing more than the reading, which I don't think is particularly imaginative.

Well, days after its publication, Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov scooped up the rights and hired the novelist, Seth Grahame-Smith, to adapt his book. When we last discussed it, it seemed most logical that Bekmambetov would wind up being the director. And now: "That one I'm prepping to direct myself," Timur tells Empire. "It is not a comedy at all - it is a very entertaining, epic history lesson for millions and millions of teenagers. If you remember Night Watch, it is maybe in the vein of that kind of movie."
