New Set Photos Of Zombies And Pitt On 'World War Z'

The zombie craze continues with new set photos of World War Z.  In case you didn’t know what World War Z is, I’ll refresh your memory. 

World War Z, written by Max Brooks and published in 2006, is written in the form of first person narratives of multiple characters accounts in a decade long war between Zombies and Humans.

Matthew Fox & Ed Harris Next on Deck for Brad Pitt's 'World War Z'?

Marc Forster's epic zombie movie World War Z starring Brad Pitt is on a mission to add more supporting actors to the fold.  According to Deadline, Lost star Matthew Fox and one of the baddest senior citizens on the planet in Ed Harris are the latest stars currently in negotiations for the film adaptation of Max Brook's larger than life novel.

The expected parts for Fox, Harris and recently added French actress Julie Levy-Boeken are unspecified for now.  Pitt is the only actor on the film's IMDB page with a character name attached, as the lead Max Brooks.  World War Z refers to the 10 year anniversary that humans won the war against worldwide zombie epidemic, and Brooks travels the globe collecting stories and interviewing survivors of that war.

Disney Lands Post-Apocalyptic 'The Runner' for Marc Forster & Brian Grazer

Apparently post-apocalyptic adventures involving time travel haven't been done to death in the movie business.  Really?  You could've fooled me.    Deadline reported today that Disney has officially acquired the rights for a futuristic survival flick called The Runner. 

The upcoming Brian Grazer produced film is looking at Finding Neverland and Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster (pictured below) to helm this massive project.  The Runner is also being developed into a TV series, video game, various phone applications and a graphic novel, similar to the multi-media formats Disney recently created for the film TRON: Legacy.

Forster Directing Ludlum's 'Chancellor Manuscript'

Marc Forster didn't have fantastic luck with 007, but he's weaving another web of intrigue by signing up for the Robert Ludlum political thrilla The Chancellor Manuscript. Variety indicates that Paramount paid $4 million back in 2005 to acquire the title, which is a boatload of cash for book rights. It will be co-produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is also in line to star.

The script is on its third draft, and sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's a bad thing. In general, you want fewer writers involved or at least fewer stages of the writing. Right now it's in the hands of Patrick O'Brien, whom Variety says is also crafting the story for the next Halo game. Not the long-awaited movie that's no closer to happening than it was a few years ago, but the next video game, Halo: Reach. Ludlum is still a booming business, even without a fourth Jason Bourne movie on the table at the moment. There's still The Sigma Protocol as well as The Matarese Circle, which did have Cruise, Denzel, and David Cronenberg attached, but Cruise went to make Knight & Day, so at the very least, that one's in a holding pattern.

'Quantum of Solace' Director Going After Zombies in 'World War Z'

Marc Foster may have officially adopted the mantra, "Less talk, more rock."The man who made his fame with human dramas like Monster's Ball and Finding Neverland, and went from that to the sorely underappreciated Stranger Than Fiction, debuts his new film in America today. It's a little something called Quantum of Solace. And suddenly, it seems, Forster is a changed man. I dunno; maybe he's using Axe body spray or something.Forster will be behind the camera for World War Z, based on the bestselling novel about a global outbreak of zombies. It was written by Max Brooks, and thanks to Variety, I now know that he's the son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft. I can see the adaptation incorporating a documentary style, since it's about a researched conducting interviews with survivors from the infestation some 10 years after the zombie attacks.Let's just hope there are some zombie attacks. You can't have this movie without them, right?

J. Michael Straczynski will write the script, and he's the guy who wrote Changeling and who will also pen the Forbidden Planet remake. Brad Pitt's Plan B picked up the rights a couple of years ago.

Said Forster of wanting to direct the adaptation, "The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the '70s like All the President's Men."
