Trailer - Sam Jackson in Nuclear Thrilla 'Unthinkable'

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say all the bombs don't go off, but in Unthinkable, Michael Sheen plays a domestic terrorist who claims to have planted three nukes somewhere in the United States. While it is one of those race-against-time movies with the digital readout on the bomb, there's another layer to this that makes the trailer interesting viewing.

Samuel L. Jackson has been brought in to handle the case, and what you may not have figured is that Jackson nabs Sheen pretty quickly. Then the torture begins. And there's the twist: What's the line, or is there a line, when facing that kind of situation? Clearly you can't kill the guy, but the waterboarding dilemma is back. Unthinkable is directed by Gregor Jordan, looking for a bounceback after last year's Informers. He doesn't normally go for the easy way out, so I doubt there's one here, either. But when you think about it, how could there be?

Michael Sheen Compares 'Wonderland' and 'TRON'

One of my favorite actors to fully emerge in the past few years is Michael Sheen. He was fantastic in The Queen and Frost/Nixon, which I group together because they're both Peter Morgan scripts and because Sheen probably could argue he deserved supporting actor nominations. But he's used those performances to launch himself into bigger movies that might also help extend his reach as a performer.

This year, Sheen has key supporting roles in two of the biggest studio movies hitting theaters: Alice in Wonderland and TRON Legacy. You don't necessarily think of them this way, but Sheen tells SciFi Wire there are similarities between the basic stories behind the two.

Fight! Fight! Volturi vs. Edward in 'New Moon' Clip

Here's part of the big Volturi fight The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Edward (Robert Pattinson) travels to Italy, but his foolish pride looks like it gets the best of him. The Volturi are like the mafia of of the vampire world - and now that I think about it, a vampire mafia movie would be bad-ass - and naturally, you don't want to cross them. Even if you're dreamy.

Before this movie was rushed into production, Summit made what I think is a fantastic hire, bringing Michael Sheen into the mix as Aro. He has experience with the vampire world of course, serving triple duty in the Underworld flicks, and this is his first major movie after he became a real force, following his great work in movies like The Queen and Frost/Nixon. Consequently, you'll see Sheen in this film, Alice in Wonderland, and TRON: Legacy in the next 14 months. His profile has definitely been raised. Of course, the majority of Twilight fans don't care who Michael Sheen is, so for them: Edward and Bella are both included in this clip, too.

Movie Review - 'The Damned United'

The Damned United Starring Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, and Jim Broadbent Directed by Tom Hooper Rated R

By and large, the sport we call soccer has never fully caught on in the United States. It's football everywhere else in the world, and we know why we don't call it the same thing here. And as much as we love American football, we simply can't compare to the rabid loyalty international football enjoys among its native fans. Perhaps nowhere is the love of the game so fiercely expressed than in the UK, the setting for the new import The Damned United, which stars Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon) as legendary coach Brian Clough. But during the late 1960s and early 1970s, Clough was not so legendary, and his time spent with Leeds United would not ordinarily seem like the sort of thing you'd make a movie about. In American terms, it would be like making a movie about the Bobby Petrino era with the Atlanta Falcons. Of course, there's more to Clough's story than this point in his career, so if you're unfamiliar with the world's most popular sport, this might be a good way in. There's plenty of background about how Clough and his assistant coach Peter Taylor (Timothy Spall) rose through the ranks from lower level clubs. Eventually, Clough ascended to take over the defending European champions, the Leeds United, without Taylor at his side, one of the great sub-plots in the film. Director Tom Hooper (who previously helmed the HBO mini-series John Adams) creates a period piece that never feels out of place. The clothes, hairstyles, cars, and even the language feels very realistic. You should also thank screenwriter Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon, The Last King of Scotland) for some of that; clearly, the man knows how to write a story based in history and give it a contemporary punch.

Michael Sheen Won't Terrorize 007 in 'Bond 23'

I was rather looking forward to this, but that hardly matters now. Michael Sheen, who has become one of the more in-demand actors in the past year or so, will not play Ernst Blofeld in the next James Bond movie, which I suspect will be out in two years.

The rumor started this summer and it certainly made some sense, at least as far as a new Blofeld goes. Of course, there's no indication the producers of the franchise want to go down that familiar road with 007 and a lot of indications that the Quantum storyline, which includes the baddies from both Daniel Craig films, will at least expand into a more traditional trilogy. Introducing Blofeld into that group of shadowy yet connected international villains is probably not that hard to do but there is something to be said for rebooting the iconic character and then not relying on those elements of his past we actually might like to see.
