'Beavis and Butthead' on the Big Screen Again

"Uh...huhhuhhuhhuh...Can you see my guns in 3-D?"

Back in the '90s when MTV was still kind of showing music videos, the animated series 'Beavis and Butthead' was all the rage in my high school.  It inspired us to call each other fart knockers, while introducing us to the Great Cornholio and the phrase "kick me in the jimmy". 

'Beavis and Butthead' creator Mike Judge has plans to bring the popular pair of moronic teenage rockers back to the theaters this Friday, October 15th as an animated 3-D introduction to the movie 'Jackass 3-D' , according to slashfilm.com.  For those of us who have been longing for the return of the hilarious cartoon we only have to wait another four days. 

It was also revealed in July, that 'Beavis and Butthead' will be back on the air courtesy of our friends at MTV, which may have finally realized that certain age demographics don't like to watch reality shows about spoiled teenagers living in mansions or whatever the case may

Movie Review - 'Extract'

Extract Starring Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck, Mila Kunis, and Kristen Wiig Directed by Mike Judge Rated R

It's a strange feeling rooting for a movie you want to be better than it is but that never really gets there. Mike Judge has had a big impact on the world of comedy in the past 20 years, thanks to Beavis and Butt-Head, Office Space, and King of the Hill, but he isn't given as much credit for those distinct creations as he should. His new film Extract finds Judge showing off some of the best of his abilities, returning him to a comedy about life of a job as in Office Space while adding the worn-in hometown vibe of King of the Hill. And the movie is funny and pleasant. But that's about all it musters. Much of why the film is a bit milquetoast is thanks to Joel Reynolds (Jason Bateman), who as a leading character is probably too nice, too straightlaced, too warm, and too easy to walk over. Extract reflects who he is - as it should - but it keeps the movie from really crackling the way it should. And in a lot of ways, Joel is a bit of an observer in his own story. Now, to the degree that Extract follows that map, it's a pretty good flick. It's never bland, the laughs never have to wait very long for the story to find them, and Judge - as he always does - creates a strange little universe of supporting characters, from Joel's wife (Kristen Wiig), who only has time for the advances of the poolboy, to the irascible J.K. Simmons as the irascible J.K. Simmons.

Beavis and Butt-Head Discuss the Merits of 'Extract'

Oh, how I have missed Beavis and Butt-Head. Mike Judge hasn't avoided talk of another movie featuring the greatest animated team since...I dunno, Tom and Jerry? And Judge has brought them back to help promote his new film, Extract.

Before you watch it, there are spoilers ahead. I guess I don't care so much, but you might not want to hear what's what. Having said that, we also get a new clip from the film, one that does require a bit of setting up, so just to provide some context, Judge, Beavis, and Butt-Head have to fill in some of the blanks. And if nothing else, it's always good to see these guys.

Funny Internet-Only Trailer for Mike Judge's 'Extract'

There's a new web-only trailer for Extract, the new Mike Judge film that comes out in less than seven days. My only complaint: Why isn't it Red Band? After all, the movie's rated R and it's not like this thing had to be edited for television. But I digress...

In addition to showing us about 85% of material we've not seen yet - always a good sign, especially with a comedy - there's a new cameo from a legendary figure in rock n' roll. A great surprise, sure, but I'd rather they kept that surprise until the movie hits theaters. Then again, the Mike Tyson reveal didn't hurt The Hangover in any way. So check it out. It appears that Ben Affleck has a bigger role than I originally envisioned, and it looks like Judge has written a great role here for Jason Bateman.

Mike Judge Talks More 'Beavis and Butt-Head'

From the department of That Would Totally Kick Ass, Mike Judge recently sat down with Collider to discuss his new comedy, Extract, and he didn't rule out another Beavis and Butt-Head movie. Far from it, in fact. However, he does warn fans that it's a tremendous amount of work.

"I like to keep the door open on Beavis and Butt-Head, because its my favorite thing that I ever done. It's the thing I'm most proud of," Judge told Collider. "Another movie... the problem is it takes a year and half, two years, two and a half years - maybe - to do that right. And that's a pretty strong level of comittment. I'm going to look at that again. That comes up every three years."
