'Oz The Great and Powerful': Production Begins On Sam Raimi Film

Just today the press release for Disney's prequel Oz The Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi, released a bevy of info for those awaiting details on the film. Touted as a major production and hopefully a worthy addition to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, here's hoping L. 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' Has a Release Date

Directed by Sam Raimi, Oz: The Great and Powerful has made news on the web twice this week, first for its release date and its latest casting for a pivotal role in the film.

Firstly, as reported to Entertainment Weekly, the movie will have an intended premiere of March 8, 2013. Oz is also being released in Disny Digital 3D, take that news however you wish. I'm hoping prequel is as much a spectacular visual bonanza as it was with The Wizard of Oz.

'Friends With Benefits': I Think This Just Came Out On DVD...

I know I have seen this somewhere…um what is , it what is it? That’s right Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman gave me a delightful version just in January of this year. I am willing to put it all on black (I hear you always bet on black) that this platonic relationship gets more involved then both members plan.

New 'Friends With Benefits' Trailer

I gotta admit, I didn't really have a lot of hope for the Justin Timberlake/Mila Kunis buddy-sex romp Friends With Benefits.  When FWB and its sister film No Strings Attached were both announced, I knew one would be a solid entry into this generation of comedy flicks and the other not so much.  I mean our world simply couldn't handle two films with the same plot to be good, it would implode (or something like that).  So when I had a chance to check out both films' trailers, I was leaning heavily towards Natalie Portman's experimentation with NSA to be the better film.  And then I saw it... And thought, so both are going to suck.

That was until today when a new theatrical trailer for Friends With Benefits was released.  And it is funny.  Really funny.

While Kunis and Franco are Rumored for Raimi's 'Oz: The Great and Powerful,' 'Akira' Suffers

Sami Raimi you devil, you.  First the Evil Dead mastermind manages to woo the ridiculously-in-demand James Franco, but now we hear that he’s also pinned down Black Swan temptress Mila Kunis for his upcoming wizard-y prequel Oz: The Great and Powerful. 

Confused expressions + pointy hats = surefire hit.

The movie, written by the strange and intriguing pairing of action dude Mitchell Kapner (Romeo Must Die) and Rabbit Hole writer David Lindsay-Abaire, will star Franco as the titular wizard, while Kunis is being rumored for the part of Theodorah, better known as The Wicked Witch of the West.  Stellar.
