Trailer - 'Assassination of a High School President'

Oh, so that's what happened to Assassination of a High School President. It was one of those films that popped up at Sundance and did really well and never moved any closer to theaters after that. But finally, it's back in the spotlight. Sort of.

The dark comedy's debut was a year-and-a-half ago now, and the Yari Film Group planned to release it back in February of this year. If you've followed the fate of indie film studios and distributors over the past five years, you know that a lot haven't been able to carve out a niche in time to stay in business. Paramount, Warner, Fox - it's happened to all of them, so why should Senator Distributing and Yari be any different? In this case, Yari filed for bankruptcy last December, which certainly took a toll on the films in its stable.

Mr. Skin's Top 20 Nude Scenes of 2008

I never thought I'd say this, but I feel sorry for Mr. Skin. I also feel sorry for the Detroit Lions, which I also never thought I'd say, but Mr. Skin has had a rough year.The purveyor of the prurient is back with another list of the best nude scenes of the year, and let's just say it can't compare to 2007, with Maria Tomei in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Natalie Portman in Hotel Chevalier, and Christina Ricci in Black Snake Moan. I mean, I'm not even sure that there are actually 20 nude scenes here, and among those that might be, there aren't a whole lot of big names, the kind of thing that really makes this list worthwhile.So while the list is still worth checking out, the inclusion of porn Frankenstein Jenna Jameson from Zombie Strippers kind of tells you all you need to know, doesn't it?Here's the top ten, according to the expert in the field:1 - Mischa Barton - Closing the RingSays Mr. Skin: "Mischa Barton not only goes topless 26 minutes into this World War II drama, but at the 34-minute mark, the O.C. hottie bares T&A. I simply don't recall an actual nude scene of any kind there. Of the ones I've seen - because some of these movies never made it to theaters - I'd say your best bet is actually Mena Suvari in Stuck. It's a quality movie and a surprisingly good scene.

Take a Closer Look: This Trailer Has No Credits

On August 26th, a movie called Virgin Territory will arrive on DVD. We recently showed you the trailer because we found it surprising that a movie with Hayden Christensen, Mischa Barton, and Tim Roth would go straight to DVD without anyone knowing the damn thing had even been made. It turns out, we buried the lead. Our readers were quick to notice things I didn't pay attention to when watching the trailer. For example, someone believes they heard Tim Roth re-named Tim Ross, which you might think is a one-off mistake. Ross is a common name; could've happened to anybody, even Big Voice Guy. I mean, after all, the on screen credit does say Roth. But then I became convinced of the sloppiness of this trailer when another reader commented, "The credits read 'Written & Directed by The Director Himself.' Now I REALLY want to see it!" So naturally, I had to investigate this more carefully. Yes, indeed, at the 1:31 mark of the Virgin Territory trailer, Mr. Voiceover says, "Hayden Christensen...Mischa Barton...and Tim Ross." Embarrassing. But that's nothing compared to the credits that pop up at the end of the trailer. We've blown them up a little bit so if you squint, you can see what we're talking about: As one of our readers astutely suggested, they're using some template here and never went back to put any of the actual credits in. That's why Something Else Films in association with This and That Productions present Something Else, Else Something, Another Person, and And Another One Still in a movie that has no name, apparently. We can see that The Music Person composed and conducted the music, and The Producer produced. And, as mentioned earlier, The Director Himself wrote and directed this anonymous film, and we shouldn't be surprised; he's very good. There are actual credits to this film; you just won't see them here. In fact, the only specific attribution on this list of credits is the website, which is for the terrible zebra/horse racing flick Racing Stripes. So was this an oversight or does the company who made this trailer not care? Or is there a third option, one in which the people who made the trailer didn't think anyone would watch this anyway and purposely went about making Virgin Territory look unprofessional? In a weird way, I kind of hope it's Option C, although I wouldn't want anyone doing that to my movie, even if it could only get a DVD release.

Trailer - Mischa Barton and Hayden Christensen Explore 'Virgin Territory'

Surely, you've had this happen to you: You're flipping the channels one weekend, stumble onto a famous face and you can't figure out what the hell the movie is.You try to pinpoint when it was made hoping that might jog your memory, and then somebody else equally famous walks on screen and you can't believe these two people ever made a movie together. "Why haven't I ever heard of this," you ask aloud.Then Tim Roth shows up to give the proceedings an air of respectability, and you're beside yourself. You've got nothin'. Just so that it doesn't happen to you with this flick, Virgin Territory appears to be a raunchy period comedy starring Hayden Christensen and Mischa Barton. That's right: Anakin has made out with both girls from The OC. I say this looks raunchy because, well, there's some brief nudity in the trailer. You've been warned or tipped off or however you want to look at it. When will you get to see Virgin Territory in theaters? You won't. Despite its cast and studio backing, this one's going straight to DVD, where you can pick it up beginning August 26th.
