Nathan Fillion Finally Cast as Next 'Green Lantern'

Last year when director Martin Campbell and Warner Bros. were looking for someone to take up the mantle of Green Lantern there was an uproar from the online community that geek god Nathan Fillion land the role.  There was even a fan made trailer which showed off the Castle and Firefly star in all his superhero glory (which I've enclosed below).  If you can't remember that far back, it was very similar to what happened this year with Fillion and Uncharted.  Apparently the actor can and should play everyone.

Ultimately the role of Hal Jordan, aka the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, went to Ryan Reynolds.  But the uproar was too much for the studio to ignore and Fillion has officially been cast as the Green Lantern.

Fan Asks David O. Russell Face-to-Face to Cast Nathan Fillion in 'Uncharted'

Back in October when it was announced director David O. Russell would be helming the video game adaptation of Uncharted, everyone had a sneaking suspicion Russell would cast his go to guy, Mark Wahlberg, in the lead.  While Wahlberg is a very talented actor and Russell can get great performances out of the guy, the fan community had someone else in mind for that role: Nathan Fillion.

Even after last month's confirmation Wahlberg would be taking the lead in Uncharted, the online fan community hasn't given up hope on getting Russell's attention.  At a recent screening of The Fighter in Hollywood, one of these fans approached Russell face-to-face about Fillion.  And, to make things better his buddy recorded the whole thing.

Are Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria New 'Avengers'?

ComicBookMovie.com cites a source it trusts, one close to Marvel Studios, as saying that and will be joining The Avengers. You don't actually have to be a source to make that kind of claim, by the way, as we'll point out.

Fillion goes way back with Avengers director . Firefly and Serenity, anyone? He also did spot duty on Buffy before that. And as Hank Pym aka Ant-Man, Marvel may have finally found a guy who can pull off that character with both a wink and authority. So that makes a lot of sense, actually. The Eva Longoria thing actually took root a couple years ago. She was spotted carrying some comics out of Marvel Studios headquarters, prompting speculation that she'd play Janet Van Dyke, the Wasp. Of course, where Ant-Man goes, the Wasp must follow, at least in the comics. They eventually married and were, obviously, really tiny fighters o' crime.

Neil Patrick Harris on 'Dr. Horrible' Sequel

That crazy internet made a big hit out of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and the sequel has been talked about and written about ever since. Neil Patrick Harris would almost certainly have to be a part of any follow-ups, since he's Dr. Horrible and all. But the current plan is bigger than we even thought; NPH says it will likely be a feature film.

"That's their plan," the actor told MTV. "I don't know of what scale. They're talking all options, because they made the first Dr. Horrible in five days on no budget at all — that was its intention." But it's not as simple as just doing the same thing again and charging people to see something they saw a few years earlier for free. There's a flips side of that, too, says Harris. "You don't want to necessarily make the feature film be an $80 million giant movie, because it defeats the purpose of what the first film was made to be."

James Gunn, Nathan Fillion Re-Team For 'Super'

We did some end of the decade lists I hope you checked out over the holidays, but one we didn't do was a collection of the overlooked films of the past ten years. What's the line on something that's overlooked, and of course, the DVD market made cult hits out of things people ignored in

However, I think it's safe to say more people should have seen James Gunn's Slither, a ridiculous horror spoof starring Nathan Fillion and Elizabeth Banks. Now Gunn is putting together a big cast for an upcoming comedy called Super, which will take aim at superhero movies. Coming Soon reports that Fillion will be back (take that, Green Lantern, or actually, Green Hornet, for which he's stunningly well-suited), Linda Cardelini, Rainn Wilson (also producing), Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, and Kevin Bacon, among many others. There's no studio attached, but the financing is lined up, so that's a good sign. Ted Hope is co-producing, and you won't many more successful independent film producers. It's all Hope does, and he's been on the leading edge of that kind of film for 20 years. May not mean much to you, but it's a primary reason this film will even get made.
