Neil Patrick Harris on 'Dr. Horrible' Sequel

That crazy internet made a big hit out of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and the sequel has been talked about and written about ever since. Neil Patrick Harris would almost certainly have to be a part of any follow-ups, since he's Dr. Horrible and all. But the current plan is bigger than we even thought; NPH says it will likely be a feature film.

"That's their plan," the actor told MTV. "I don't know of what scale. They're talking all options, because they made the first Dr. Horrible in five days on no budget at all — that was its intention." But it's not as simple as just doing the same thing again and charging people to see something they saw a few years earlier for free. There's a flips side of that, too, says Harris. "You don't want to necessarily make the feature film be an $80 million giant movie, because it defeats the purpose of what the first film was made to be."

Neil Patrick Harris Joins 'The Smurfs'

Neil Patrick Harris will play the human lead in the live-action/animated hybrid, The Smurfs, according to Deadline Hollywood. See, I never would have guessed NPH had so many gambling debts that he had to resort to this, but you can never be too sure in Hollywood.

That's a joke, but this isn't: Smurfs will be directed by Raja Gosnell, who makes some of the worst movies in the world. His best film - by a mile - is Never Been Kissed. Here's the last five: Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Yours, Mine and Ours, Scooby Doo 2, Scooby Doo, and Big Momma's House. Well, this explains NPH's willingness to sign on. Clearly with his history of gambling debts, he likes a longshot.

Nathan Fillion Talks 'Dr. Horrible' Sequel

I can think of a few people who will be thrilled by this news: Nathan Fillion says the sequel to the Emmy-winning Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is moving ahead pretty quickly.

"There are plans," Fillion confirmed to MTV. "The media for the sequel has not yet been decided, but there is a title." What I assume he means by "the media for the sequel" is that they don't know yet if it will live on the internet first or if it's a TV thing or a DVD or a combination of all of the above. No story details, damn the luck, but the star of Castle (really Fillion's first hit) says that Joss Whedon and his brothers and sister-in-law are hard at work on some songs for the musical, which was featured during the Emmy telecast in September because of host Neil Patrick Harris' involvement in the Sing-Along Blog. "Joss, I was talking to him right before we won the Emmy. He said that he's finished writing a song or two. He told me a couple of verses to the song," said Fillion. "It's going to be great. I know a bunch of cast members of Dr. Horrible who would love to get back into it."

Neil Patrick Harris Excited for 'Harold & Kumar 3'

I'm not entirely sure we need Harold and/or Kumar anymore; just give me the bizarro world version of himself Neil Patrick Harris has played in both movies and I'll be more than fine. I thought Guantanamo Bay dragged after the initial set-up, until NPH showed up, and then once he wasn't a real factor again, it kind of lost my interest. But there might be a Harold & Kumar 3, and so far, it gets the Neil Patrick Harris seal of approval. "I talked to [Hurwitz and Schlossberg] and I think they're excited about some potential stuff," Harris told IGN. "I'm always concerned about them jumping the shark -- I think as Kal [Penn] and John [Cho] are as well -- and they surprised me with the ideas that they had for the third movie." He adds confidently, "I wholeheartedly approved of what they wanted to do." As long as there's a lot of NPH being a stone cold pimp, I do, too.

SNL: Neil Patrick Harris in 'Frost/Other People'

Here's a great idea for a spoof from this weekend's Saturday Night Live, hosted by NPH. Based on the glorious critical success of Frost/Nixon, the producers put together a series of films based on the premise that David Frost would blow the lid off the secrets of other celebrities from the 1970s. Like a lot of things on Saturday Night Live, though, the premise is better than the payoff. Man, they sure do try to give Kenan Thompson something to do, don't they? But it does feature one of Fred Armisen's best impressions, although nothing can top his Sam Waterston. Anyway, here it is - Frost/Other People:
