New Promotional Stills For 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

Can Pirates of the Caribbean sustain its summer competition?

The rapidly approaching May 20th, 2011 release date for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has sent Walt Disney out on a promotional spree. Recently released by Walt Disney Pictures showcases many of the franchise iconic leads in Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Barbosa (Georffrey Rush) but, we get to see some newbies with Blackbeard (Ian McShane) and Angelica (Penelope Cruz). Depp, Cruz and Rush on the Set of 'Pirates 4'

Radar Online, the Mel Gibson is a dangerous, racist madman audio tape people, have a new batch of photos from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides featuring Penelope Cruz, Johnny Depp, and Geoffrey Rush. First up: Cruz and Depp.

Just so we're off the hook here, some of these other people aren't pirates. They'll be easy to spot. We still think this movie is about the fountain of youth, because Captain Jack, in a denial of the rumor, said "even if it weren't not true," which in no way throws us off the scent. I wonder if the fourth movie is going to do the kind of massive business the sequels did. One of them put up a billion damn dollars. I doubt there's that much money in the offing, but I could be wrong. It'll sure start big on May 20th, but it could trail off quickly if it's not any good. I hope it is good, though, because they're supposed to be making even more of these someday. More pics:

Depp Carries a Torch for Cruz in 'Pirates 4'

Here's a shock: Penélope Cruz will play Johnny Depp's love interest in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Much like Clarissa in days of yore, Jerry Bruckheimer explains it all.

"She plays the daughter of Blackbeard," The Bruck told MTV at ShoWest. "She's the daughter of the bad guy." Blackbeard is reportedly being portrayed by Ian McShane meaning...uh...meaning I think those genetics are flat impossible. Seriously, how hot must the baby mama be if Penélope is the result of anything and Ian McShane?

'Pirates 4' Wants Babes With Real Breasts

Kudos to Moviehole for catching this casting announcement for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which shoots this summer and will be released in 2011. You knew that already.

The major players are in place - Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penélope Cruz, Ian McShane - so now comes filling out the minor roles and background players. To that end, here's your chance, ladies: Pirates wants "beautiful female fit models" and there are a few specifics. Some might even say it's a bit too restrictive.

"Beautiful Female Fit Models:. Must be 5'7-5'8, Size 4 or 6 - NO BIGGER OR SMALLER. Age 18-25. Must have a lean dancer body. MUST have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants. This is a show and tell of costumes with the director and the producers. Plan on an entire day of trying on clothes and being photographed."

Yo Ho Ho: Ian McShane in Talks for 'Pirates 4'

More news from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and much like the admittedly more attractive reveal of Penélope Cruz joining the cast, I can't really find fault with the latest update. How about Ian McShane as Blackbeard? Yeah, they nailed that one.

Heat Vision Blog says McShane is just in negotiations, but where do you go from there if it's not ol' Al Swearengen? That's pretty exciting. But...but... We already know that this is a movie about the Fountain of Youth, and even though it's supposed to be smaller in scale, we know we've got Johnny Depp, Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, and now McShane (or someone equally noteworthy as Blackbeard), and if they load it down with any more people to put on the poster, this one might suffer the same fate as the first two Pirates sequels. I hope not.
