'A Most Wanted Man', Philip Seymour Hoffman is

The John le Carre best-seling spy novel turned spy film, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy earned the seriously underrated Gary Oldman an Oscar nomination for his performance, one of which I regretfully haven't seen yet.  Now former Best Actor award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman has his sights set on portraying another famous character from the works of the acclaimed writer.  Coming Soon reports Hoffman has signed on to star in A Most Wanted Man, which will be helmed by The American director Anton Corbijin.

First Preview for Brad Pitt's Baseball on a Budget Movie 'Moneyball'

As a fan of Major League Baseball lore, the story of the Oakland Athletics penny pincher GM (general manager) Billy Beane was one that has always fascinated me.  Needless to say I was over the moon when I heard the novel Moneyball was going to be adapted into a feature film, which would star Brad Pitt as the pioneer who built a championship contender through stastical analysis and without breaking the bank.

I'm excited to share the first preview of Moneyball courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, which provides a nice introduction to Beane's tenure with the team.

They're Back! Joaquin Phoenix & Phillip Seymour Hoffman Confirmed for Paul Thomas Anderson's Next Film

The man who was responsible for creating Punch Drunk Love, one of my all time favorite movies has plans to dust off the 'ol camera and bust out the other various pieces of filmmaking equipment again soon to helm an exciting new untitled project formally known as The Master. 

That's right director Paul Thomas Anderson will return to the motion picture biz to make a film starring previously retired actor Joaquin Phoenix (Awesome rap artist) and Oscar winner Phillip Seymour Hoffman, according to Deadline.  This will be the first film Anderson has worked on since his smash hit There Will Be Blood back in 2007.

Philip Seymour Hoffman May be Venomous to 'Spider-Man Reboot'

Just to recap, as you may know the Spider-Man Reboot is going to be completely revamped from the previous series. Tobey Maguire is out and is replace by Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.  Emma Stone may be in for Mary Jane replacing Kirsten Dunst.  Philip Seymour Hoffman might be Venom.  Yes, you heard me right, Freddie Miles (Talented Mr. Ripley) may be Spidey's arch nemesis in the new Spider-Man movie. 

"What, Venom? Yeah, I can pull it off, I'm Philip Seymour Goddam# Hoffman."

Now I'm not sure whether he's going to be the Eddie Brock version of Venom or the Mac Gagan version but either way, Hoffman may need to get started on his P90X exercises because when I think of Seymour Hoffman, I don't think of a real-life version of this guy:

PT Anderson 'Master's Defeat

According to lead actor Jeremy Renner, production of Paul Thomas Anderson's feature The Master has been delayed indefinitely. The film mirrors the foundation and growth of Scientology focusing mainly on the figure of L. Ron Hubbard. The story follows the master, set to be played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, as a charismatic cult leader whose faith-based cult called 'The Cause' begins to catch on in the early 1950s. Jeremy Renner was to play a young, alcoholic drifter who eventually becomes the master's right hand man, only to begin questioning his new beliefs and mentor.
