Producer Discusses New 'Blade Runner' & 'Point Break'

Ridley Scott brought us more Aliens, next up more Blade Runner

A follow up to Blade Runner from Ridley Scott years after the original (1982) would be simply amazing.  Unfortunately, I'm not nearly as enthused about a remake of an instant classic in Point Break (1991), but Alcon Entertainment is well on the way to developing both films right now, according to the Play List.

Alcon Producer Andrew Kosove described the Blade Runner project as a "high priority" and said that it's "moving forward aggressively in development."  Kosove discussed the development of the next installment and what to expect, but wouldn't elaborate whether it's a sequel or prequel.

Say it Ain't So... 'Point Break' Next Up for a Reboot?

It's often an afterthought that The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow once made a totally radical early 90's movie called Point Break, which starred the late Patrick Swayze (miss you buddy) and Keanu Reeves.  The classic flick taught us all about living life to the extreme through surfing, sky diving minus a parachute, being an F.B.I agent, robbing banks dressed as former U.S. presidents and the exploits of the crazy, mega toothed Gary Busey. 

Turns out the writer of the rebooted Total Recall screenplay, Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Law Abiding Citizen) has completed a script for the Point Break remake and it's currently being housed over at RGM Entertainment, Twitch reports.

'Point Break 2': 100% Pure Rehash

Is it too early to say that nothing good can come of this? Jan de Bont, who hasn't made a good movie since Speed, which, as it turns out, was his only good movie, has signed on to direct the sequel to Point Break.

Point Break: Indo is what they're calling the follow-up, presumably because the title Desperate Attempt at Cash: Next Stop: White Slavery was somehow already taken. The sequel has been rumored for some time, with talk really heating up last year that all systems were go. Indo will chronicle events that happen 20 years after the original, centering on the disappearance of Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) in Southeast Asia. Well, perhaps they should hire John Rambo to look for him. The Hollywood Reporter claims that there is no news as to whether any of the original Point Break cast members will be along for the ride this time, although I wouldn't believe the odds are good.
