'Rambo' 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Coming to Theaters

Okay, I'm just kidding about six, seven, eight, nine, and ten but the script is finished for Rambo 5.  Hey if LeBron James can promise seven championships, I can bet you that there will be 10 Rambo films before the Miami Heat win their seventh NBA championship. 

Although Sylvester Stallone told audiences that Rambo 4 would be the last one, he contracted out the script to Sean Hood (Conan the Barbarian) for a draft of the screen.

Stallone on More Rambo, Edgar Allan Poe Bio-Pic

With The Expendables opening tomorrow and Sylvester Stallone making the press circuit, the subject of what he's got planned for the future. That's the way it goes. Two projects that caught MTV's interest are Stallone's proposed Edgar Allan Poe bio-pic and the on-off Rambo cinquel.

"I will direct it, but it's never gonna live up to the hype," Stallone said of his Poe film. "No matter what I do it's going to bomb, totally. Totally! When you've been talking about something for 30 years, it's impossible [to live up to those expectations]." At least he's got the right attitude. But with Robert Downey, Jr. rumored to star, how could it fail? Well, maybe if Stallone appears to be backtracking on Iron Man's involvement. "It has to be like Downey, I designed it for Downey," he explained. "Perhaps I could re-work the script. [Maybe] Johnny Depp. It needs a very special actor like that. I'm sure there's something on the horizon."

Stallone "99 Per Cent Sure" We're Done With 'Rambo'

Remember how Sylvester Stallone was writing a fifth Rambo? Something that, at one point, involved the aging Vietnam veteran fighting a bunch of super soldiers? Well, forget it. Stallone says Rambo has fought his last mission.

"I think Rambo's pretty well done. I don't think there'll be any more. I'm about 99 per cent sure," Sly tells Empire while promoting The Expendables. The odd part about Stallone's announcement is that a deal was set for Rambo V: The Savage Hunt months ago, and here's the kicker: It's the same company (Nu Image/Millennium) that bankrolled The Expendables.

Stallone Reverses Field on 'Rambo V' Story

OK, so remember that weird storyline for the fifth Rambo movie? Stallone fighting supersoldiers? That's done. It sounds like now, Sly will return to the original plot involving human trafficking south of the border. In a letter to StalloneZone, the star-writer-director announced that the film will "change course."

The title had been changed to Rambo V: The Savage Hunt, a reflection of the supersoldier story. That, as it turns out, is from a book called Hunter by James Huggins, which Stallone purchased the rights to about a decade ago. It didn't really seem to fit the Rambo motif, anyway, which has never veered to science fiction, but it may still factor into the movie somehow or other. Stallone Responds to 'Rambo V' Reactions

Sylvester Stallone's next Rambo movie will introduce elements of science fiction for the first time, unless you believe it's how scientifically impossible it is to dodge all of those bullets for four movies. But the fifth film will introduce genetically altered super soldiers that Rambo has to somehow take out.

Some fans are wondering why Stallone is slightly shifting the genre and in Italy, where he's accepting a career award at the Venice Film Festival, Stallone addressed the early reaction to the premise of Rambo V: The Savage Hunt. "I don't want to keep repeating myself and just doing films about war," he said. "This is a very psychological film about sophisticated man fighting primitive man." In fact, Sly says even calling it science fiction might be a misnomer. "It's actually possible today, with all the cloning and stem cell research, to actually have some experiments that don't work very well and get out of control."
