Trailer - Sean Connery's Cartoon Comeback, 'Sir Billi'

Remember a few months ago when it was announced that Sean Connery was coming out of retirement to do voice work in an animated flick? We haven't seen Sir Sean since League of Extraordinary Gentleman - proving he knows how to go out on top - but he was, for one reason or another, attracted by a movie called Sir Billi.

The trailer, or as I was told, the sizzle reel, has creeped online and I think it's a mixed bag. As a trailer, it's not much, and as a story it doesn't seem overwhelmingly interesting, either. But there's something about the animation. The backgrounds and some of that stuff looks almost photorealistic, but the character animation is very rudimentary. I will say that the movie will be in 3-D, so the characters, including Sir Billi, might look more pleasing when you see it the way it's meant to be presented. I won't say "lifelike," because they're clearly not drawn that way, but less...Nintendo 64, perhaps. But really, pay attention to the water at about 1:15 into this video; that's good stuff, and hard to do well, incidentally.

Sean Connery Returns, Or At Least His Voice Does

Hey, hey - Sean Connery is acting again, and you know what that means: It's time to break out the Zardoz shot.

In the words of Brian Fantana from Anchorman, "That's the smell of desire, my lady." Anyway, back to Connery. After going out in style with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, he said facetiously, Connery has been absent from the scene for about half a decade, even turning down a chance to be in Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skull. But now he's back, kind of. The Hollywood Reporter says Connery will executive produce and supply his often imitated voice to the animated film Sir Billi.

Sean Connery Takes Top Prize in Worst Accent Poll

I have no idea where John Malkovich's Teddy KGB is on the list, but he didn't crack the top ten. Empire conducted a poll of the worst movie accents of all time. The ones that did crack the list are also doozies, though, so don't worry about a big letdown.

Sean Connery has been inducted in the hall of shame for his Oscar-winning...uh..."Irish" accent in The Untouchables. Other icons, like Charlton Heston, Meryl Streep, and Sir Laurence Olivier, also made their marks on voters, as did less-esteemed performers like Heather Graham and Keanu Reeves. But no Teddy KGB, which I just can't wrap my head around. Anyway, here's the list. See if one of your favorites made the cut:

Connery's 007 Script Sells for Almost $70,000

I had no idea that Sean Connery ever wrote sceenplays, but apparently, he gave it a go in the mid-70s on a project called Warhead. It was a James Bond script Connery co-wrote with Len Deighton and Kevin McClory in 1976, five years after he quit playing Bond, oddly enough.Of course, we never saw Warhead; legal problems apparently kept the film from ever being made, but it features 007 taking on robot sharks - uh huh - because they were being used to plant nukes in the New York sewers. And to think, a silly lawsuit kept us from ever witnessing that gem.Sharks with frickin' laser beams...Still, the script fetched a healthy $68,400 as part of Christie's Pop Culture: Entertainment Memorabilia auction in London. It was expected to command about three grand. I would imagine the interest in the script has something to do with Bond movies being bigger than ever; Quantum of Solace will zoom past $400 million in worldwide ticket sales this weekend and probably will make a couple hundred million more.McClory's script for another Connery Bond film, Never Say Never Again was also part of the auction, but sadly, not Connery's personal script from The Avengers or Dragonheart.
