Soundtrack to 'Captain America: The First Avenger' Listen Here

What does the word patriotic sound like?  Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump) tried his best to capture this in his score for Captain America: The First Avenger.  The soundtrack was previewed on NYC classical music station on their show, Movies on the Radio.

It sounds like what you would expect.  Nothing crazy, just some solid music behind some action scenes in the film.  Check it out below:

Daft Punk's 'TRON: Legacy' Score Gets a Music Video

This just in: Daft Punk's score for TRON: Legacy is AMAZING!  I bought the score online last night from Amazon (it's currently on sale for $3.99) and haven't stopped listening to it since.  I fully expect Daft Punk's work here to be nominated for an Oscar in February, and in a year full of top notch scores (The Social Network, Inception, Let Me In) that's really saying something.

Today, MTV premiered the first music video from the score for the track "Derezzed."  The video isn't as noteworthy as the score itself as the imagery is a little weak, but it's still definitely worth a watch as it's kind of a cool mash-up between the original TRON and the upcoming Legacy.  Check out the video after the jump.

'Up' Composer Michael Giacchino Scoring 'Let Me In'

A news update concerning composer Michael Giacchino that you might not otherwise think twice about, but you're smart enough to know that the right film music can make a huge difference, just the same way hiring a drunk cinematographer could give you an entirely different movie.

Giacchino, the Oscar winner this year for his terrific score for Up and a longtime Pixar and J.J. Abrams composer, has been hired to lay down tracks for Matt Reeves' Let Me In, the artful vampire remake out in theaters in October. The news comes from an unsurprising source, MichaelGiacchinoMusic.com, which reports that he's also doing the pilot episode for the Abrams-produced spy show, Undercovers, which airs this fall on what's left of NBC.

Trent Reznor Scoring Fincher's 'The Social Network'

We know where Trent Reznor won't be for a while: Arizona. Nine Inch Nails recently joined the ranks of performers boycotting the state in light of its recent anti-immigration bill. And we've learned where Reznor will be: In the Facebook movie. On his website, Reznor announced that he's doing the score for David Fincher's The Social Network.

"David Fincher started inquiring about my interest in scoring his upcoming film, The Social Network. Yeah, the movie about the founding of Facebook. I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story," Reznor wrote, echoing my exact thoughts on the subject. "When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned."
