Video - Kevin Kline on 'The Colbert Report'

We don't often share talk show interviews, but this one's pretty memorable and there's not a lot going on in terms of The Extra Man, which stars Kevin Kline as a male chaperone. Not so much an escort, as he tells Stephen Colbert.

The film opens in select cities this weekend, and I'll try to get a review for it on Friday morning; I have the screener but I'm not sure I'll get a chance to watch it before then. In any case, Friday at some point. That's my solemn vow. Kline's a fantastic actor with a compass that sometimes is way off. You see that a lot, but normally, the actors work more than Kline (who has always preferred the stage) so it's not as pronounced. But he can certainly be great. Incidentally, one of the many roles he's turned down - a theme Colbert references - was Tim Burton's Batman. Really? Yes. Really.

Goldblum Speaks Out on Obama's Fly Swatting

Perhaps you've seen the video this week of President Obama forever silencing an impertinent housefly. It happened during a CNBC interview, and Obama even pointed out the fallen fly to the network's camera man, who zoomed in for a close-up.

J.J. Abrams Talks 'Star Trek' on 'The Colbert Report'

As part of the media blitz for Star Trek - one that could be even more massive, actually, given the nature of the summer movie business - J.J. Abrams made a visit to The Colbert Report.

It's not the best interview I've ever seen Colbert preside over, and the comedy bit at the end falls pretty flat, but I wonder how many other TV show creators turned movie directors would not only get that slot on Colbert but would also have name recognition with a big chunk of the audience. While it's true that Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, and Zoe Saldana aren't household names yet, Abrams has built a brand with his output over the past five years, with Alias, Lost, Cloverfield, and even Mission: Impossible 3, and may be the real "star" of the movie. Star Trek, of course, is instantly identifiable, but for more than a few people, Abrams may be as big a draw as the title. Check out the interview:

If Christian Bale Sees These, He'll Be Pissed...And Nobody Wants That

Congratulations, Christian Bale: You're part of the zeitgeist. All week long, the top story has been his outburst last summer on the set of Terminator Salvation. The audio leaked out, demonstrating that Bale can be a little testy when things aren't going well, and the fun hasn't stopped since.

Personally, while I understand that Bale is one of those actors that gets totally into the moment and having an external influence break him out of it is really unnerving, at a certain point you have to be a professional. You have to let it go. And it's not even so much the dressing down of the film's cinematographer, Shane Hurlbut, that bothers me. It's the four-minute show that it became. I hope he's embarrassed by it; he should be. But the tantrum has become a source of ridicule and inspiration for some. Three New 'Monsters vs. Aliens' Character Posters

We've got three new character posters from the upcoming DreamWorks animated 3-D flick, Monsters vs. Aliens. The story goes that the U.S. government has been collecting monsters for years, because, well, what do you do with captured or created monsters? You can't let those things run wild.

But when aliens target Earth, the President (voiced by Stephen Colbert) releases the hounds, so to speak. And the monsters we meet include Bob the Blog (Seth Rogen), The Missing Link (Will Arnett), and Ginormica (Reese Witherspoon).
