Producer Brian Grazer Says 'The Dark Tower' Movie is Coming

Funny how I presumed the film adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower was dead, when I mentioned it in regards to The Stand being directed by Ben Affleck last Friday.  Oddly enough, the announcement for that project seemed to spark life back into another possible big screen jump for The Dark Tower.  Producer Brian Grazer now says moviegoers can expect a Dark Tower film at a much lower budget with a much better ending, Indie Wire reports.

Ben Affleck to Direct Stephen King's 'The Stand'?

Warner Bros. has been discussing a film adaptation of Stephen King's novel "The Stand" for many months.  In fact, I wrote an article here about their decision to make the film back on February 1st.  At the time talk of the possible Dark Tower movie was receiving far more pub, until the development on that project was shelved indefiintely.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has now handed the directorial gig of The Stand adaptation to Ben Affleck to run with.

Spielberg & Stephen King Partner with Showtime for an 'Under the Dome' Series?

Showtime has hit a homerun today by joining forces with Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks TV and Stephen King on an Under The Dome series based on King's best selling novel.  Spielberg scooped up the rights shortly after the book was published to strong reviews in November of 2009, and as a result we have this rad show to look forward to.

Jonathan Demme to Bring Stephen King's '11/22/63' to The Big Screen

Many of Stephen King's novels have made the big screen jump.  Yesterday Warner Bros. and director David Yates were negotiating a deal for The Stand movies.  Now director Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) plans to write, direct and produce the movie adaptation of King's upcoming JFK assassination centered sci-fi novel "11/22/63", Variety reported earlier.

'Harry Potter' Director & Writer to Team with Warner Bros. for 'The Stand' Movies

Director David Yates (pictured below between writer Steve Kloves and producer David Heyman) has raked in big time dough for Warner Bros. with the last four Harry Potter blockbusters.  Now Warner Bros. is on the verge of handing Yates and Kloves the keys to bring Stephen King's "The Stand" to the silver screen, Hitfix reports.

The studio is reportedly closing in on a deal with Yates to direct multiple films based on King's hit novel, and is making the massive project a major priority.
