Spielberg Talks 'Tintin 2', 'Robopocalypse' & 'Jurassic Park 4'

Before last month's The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse were released, Steven Spielberg hadn't directed a film since 2008's Indiana Jones and the Underwhelming Sequel, so it's quite a change of pace for us to be getting to see so many of his films in such a short time.  He's just finished filming Lincoln, which fans can look forward to seeing in December.  According to Collider, Spielberg also gave some hints as to what the future holds for him, both as a director and a producer.

Spielberg Chats About 'Indiana Jones 5'

In a recent interview with NY Mag, Steven Spielberg revealed some minor tidbits pertaining to the Indiana Jones franchise.  Spielberg stated that he and George Lucas have indeed been working on another Indiana Jones sequel (part 5), but only in terms of a general idea for the new film.

"I told [Spielberg] about the story, but I really haven't found the MacGuffin yet," he said. "I mean, I know what it's about, but I just have to find a MacGuffin that fits into the arena we're working in."

Director Zhang Yimou Discusses 'Flowers of War', Speilberg's Involvement & Christian Bale

So what if The Flowers of War is the most expensive ever made in China?  Director Zhang Yimou is certainly not being affected by it.  Afterall, he has Christian Bale starring in his film, thanks to Steven Spielberg's involvment, about the Nanjing Massacre. That's got a recipe for Oscar written all over.

Mentioned at a press conference, Bale got involved with the film when Zhang "asked Steven Spielberg, who is a friend, to read the English script and recommend actors," who then recommended Christian Bale, having directed him as a child in 1987 for Empire of the Sun.

Spielberg Nabs Jared Harris for Key Role in 'Lincoln'

Jared Harris is the son of the late Richard Harris (Harry Potter), so the acting blood lines are there.  He's been a recurring character on AMC hit series Mad Men, and plays Sherlock Holmes villain Professor Moriarty in A Game of Shadows coming out December 16 next.  

Variety reports today, Steven Spielberg has cast Harris as Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant in his star studded biopic Lincoln.  Harris joins noteworthy performers Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tommy Lee Jones in this epic film adaptation of the biography "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Spielberg Blames Lucas for 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' Failure?

I wonder who Indy blames?

The overwhelmingly consensus regarding Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is that it was very bad.  Moviegoers, like myself are often quick to place blame on George Lucas for screwing around with the Star Wars trilogy too much, because he seems hell bent on squeezing every penny out of the franchise that he can.  Now, in an interview with Empire Online, while promoting Tintin, his own pal Steven Spielberg puts the blame on Lucas when he was asked about Indy 4.
