Morgan Freeman Joins 'Oblivion' With Tom Cruise

You can’t begrudge any filmmaker who wants Morgan Freeman to lend their acting talents.  His narration voice work for March of the Penguins and Science Channel series Through the Wormhole, has Freeman giving the voice of god.  A role, I might add, he’s already played in Bruce Almighty.  The acting legend is wanted for a “critical role” in Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise and from TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski.

'Tron: Legacy' Sequel Gets A Writer

Disney knowing it has a potential hit series in its own backyard, went out and hired writer David DiGilio to pen the sequel to Tron: Legacy today.  DiGilio will replace the writing team of Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, who wrote Legacy but are currently working on a fantasy show for ABC called Once Upon a Time, THR reports.

The bummer in all of this reportedly great news about coming together to make an untitled Tron 3 movie is that Disney, while being ready to work on the next script isn't entirely committed to making the sequel any time soon.

'TRON: The Next Day' Leaked Video - See it Here Before it Gets Deleted

 

So the TRON: Legacy DVD contains a 10 minute epilogue to the movie which reveals much about what will happen in the future installments of the franchise.  This epilogue shows hows the Flynn Lives Organization was formed, who was in charge of it and what happens when Sam decides to take over ENCOM at the end of movie.

Sweet 'TRON: Uprising' Animated Series Trailer

When Disney announced their plans for TRON: Legacy, they made it quite clear that their plan of attack was multifaceted.  The film itself, potential sequels, video games, theme park attractions, action figures, and even an animated TV series.  That's just how Disney rolls, duh WINNING!  Now that Legacy underperformed at the box office, it's on to the next phase, which is Disney's all out war on the home video front.

With the Blu-Ray and DVD release of TRON: Legacy just a month away, we got our first look at the trailer for TRON: Uprising, the animated series that fills in the gap between the original TRON and last year's sequel, which is included on the DVD/Blu-Ray set. While some might groan this idea is just for kids, I beg to differ.  The voice cast is stacked, the filmmakers behind Legacy were all involved, and the trailer itself looks pretty awesome.  Check it out below.

Unfortunate 'TRON' Blu-Ray Cover Art

So, a few months ago there was this really strange report that Disney was pulling all of its DVD copies of the original TRON off of retail and rental shelves because they were worried its dated effects would hurt TRON: Legacy at the box office.  As strange as that seems, it kind of makes sense.  But at the same time it dashed my hopes of a TRON blu-ray for the holidays.

Well now, The HD Room is posting what they believe to be the cover art for the upcoming TRON blu-ray release.  Or should I say "TRON: The Original Classic".  Hit the jump to check out the unfortunate "art".
