New "Poster" for 'Underworld: Awakening'

Just the other day I mentioned how Hollywood movie studios overstuff posters and how they could gain from going simple, before crowding the visual field.  For some reason, the new poster for Underworld Awakening took my advice in the worst way possible.  

This poster seems like some ill-advised promotional material that may or may have not steemed from some pre-production conceptual art drawing.  See the poster after the jump.

Latest Trailer: 'Underworld: Awakening'

I sometimes wonder how the Underworld franchise keeps surviving amongst the glut of vampire and werewolf movies.  Maybe its Kate Beckinsale as "Selene" in a leather skin-tight suit or the enjoyable actions sequences...  No, its definitely Kate Beckinsale.  Either way, she's here to usher us with the new trailer for Underworld: Awakening.  See after the jump.

First New Trailer For 'Underworld: Awakening'

Somehow these films keep getting made and they keep making decent earnings at the box office. Who am I to say they should stop or at least tread new ground with their bread and butter? That's also a euphamism for Kate Beckinsale getting into that leathery suit. 'Underworld 4' Gets Director(s)

If you've never heard of the Swedish directing duo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, don't beat yourself up.  Like I said, they're Swedish and only have a handful of credits under their belt.  None of which have made it to the states yet and their biggest film, a thriller starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys-Myers, has only reached as far as the UK and Japan.

Well either Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment either know something we don't or this duo has the greatest agents in the world, because they're currently negotiating a deal to direct Underworld 4.

Kate Beckinsale Signs on for 'Underworld 4' but Hubby Not Directing

For what it is, the Underworld series have been a hit for Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gem Pictures.  Afterall, the studio spent $25 - $50 million for each of the three movies, and it has generated $300 million total at the box office.  So like any studio, they'll milk this one till the very last drop and Kate Beckinsale will come back to the series once again.

 

In a press release sent yesterday, producers say Beckinsale will be back to play Serene, the heroine in the vampires vs. werewolves story.
