First New Trailer For 'Underworld: Awakening'

Somehow these films keep getting made and they keep making decent earnings at the box office. Who am I to say they should stop or at least tread new ground with their bread and butter? That's also a euphamism for Kate Beckinsale getting into that leathery suit. New Images and Clip from 'Let Me In'

We are only four Fridays away from Let Me In, the US remake of Let the Right One In that will probably do more business in its first three days than the original did in its entire US release window. That's a pity, but as I always say, there's a chance people will see the new one, and with their antennae raised about it, go back to watch the real thing.

Five new images for Matt Reeves' remake have been released, along with our first clip from the film. It stars Chloe Moretz, best known for Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass, a performance that nearly made Roger Ebert call Child Protective Services. So why didn't he say a goddamn thing about Bobby J. Thompson's foul mouth in Role Models or, indeed, Lina Leandersson's bloodlust in Let the Right One In? But I digress. Her co-star in Let Me In is Kodi Smit-McPhee, who along with the great Richard Jenkins factors in to the rest of these photos. French Poster, New Clip for 'Let Me In'

We're less than a month away now from Let Me In, the near-immediate remake of the great Swedish film Let the Right One In. The film didn't do much in the US a couple years ago, faring better in Europe. So it makes sense that there's a new French one-sheet for the film featuring Chloe Moretz as the ageless teenage vampire.

Click to See the Whole Thing When I say that the original film fared better in Europe, that's relative. The other big Swedish export, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo only made about $10 million in the US, but nearly 1,000 times that much everywhere else. Let the Right One In...didn't get past $12 million, total. So this is probably the most talked about remake based on virtually no interest in the predecessor ever. (Let's face it: $11 million is just a little over one million tickets sold worldwide.) However, the story's fantastic and so is the film, so director Matt Reeves has plenty of stuff to work with, and a bigger studio commitment won't hurt. And who knows, maybe this film will generate more excitement about Let the Right One In, a dark masterpiece of teen angst. Here's the first clip from the film, fresh from harvest.

Sam Worthington Will Be Alex Proyas' 'Dracula'

Maybe other people use this phrase, too, but because in this industry you hear a lot of stories that make headlines and never fully develop (hey, we've all gotta fill space on the magic netterwebs), I like saying that this or that is "officially official," reconfirming what we thought had already been confirmed but apparently hadn't.

Of course, with Sam Worthington, you should always check for the officially official label first because he's prone to change his mind about a project pretty quickly. While I thought he was all-in for Dracula: Year Zero, that apparently just happend. So now he's officially official. The movie's the latest from Alex Proyas, meaning it's hard to discount it right away, no matter how much vampire schlock there is in theaters and on TV. Knowing that, you can put two and two together and figure out that this is a Dracula origin story, more specifically, how Vlad the Impaler became known as a vampire.

Box Office - 'The Expendables' Beats Expendables

A pretty firm hold on last weekend's audience numbers helped The Expendables win at the box office for the second straight week. It still has a while to go before it's in the black, but the $80 million action flick has now made $65 million in ten days.

Usually with action films, particularly ones that aren't that great, a second weekend drop of 55 - 60% is in order. Expendables, aided by weak competition everywhere, only lost about 53%, so it was the clear winner this weekend with $16.5 million. Vampires Suck was fairly consistent for most of its five days in theaters, although its weekend draw was nothing to get excited about. It took expected hits on Thursday and Sunday, but it's going to be in the win column for Fox after another week or so, which means, and I'm speculating here, 3-D Movie can be made next year.
