Jean-Claude Van Damme is enjoying a renaissance
of sorts. Actually, you could say he's never known the kind of praise he's been
getting lately. While his films made a considerable amount of money in the early
1990s, they were all more or less crimes against humanity.
His latest film,
JCVD, shows Van Damme playing a fictionalized
version of himself, and at age 48, he's finally getting good reviews. So
thinking he's on top of the mountain, Van Damme wanted to share the love.
Literally. With a reporter. Who's only 22. And who writes for
a little
outlet called Newsweek.

The reporter, Sarah Ball, was openly and aggressively hit on by the aging Muscles from Brussels during their interview, and being a trouper, she kept it in the story. After all, how could you write an article about Van Damme and not find time to reference his smooveness.
JCVD: I really opened myself up in "JCVD." I peeled back the skin of the fruit, cut the pulp and then took that very hard seed. In this film I cut that hard seed, and inside that seed was a kind of liquid cream substance of the man I am, or the woman you are. SB: OK —
JCVD: It was like being naked—I would love to be naked in front of you.
SB: Well, I — JCVD: Not being naked being naked. I say such things in Hong Kong and they thought I was being a crazy Frenchman. Being naked of protection.
SB: So you ' ve no regrets at all? JCVD: Believe me—I've done very good stuff and very crazy stuff, and I don't regret the crazy stuff. So are you in New York?
SB: Yes, I am. JCVD: And are you 27, or 32? SB: I ' m 22. JCVD: Oh, f–––. That is very young. Will you come to the premiere?
SB: I don ' t know. When is it? JCVD: I don't know. You will wear all black, a black dress and high heels?
SB: Uh — JCVD: You can come find me, I will be the one with the very broad shoulders, dark hair and a simple suit. We can have some champagne, you and me.
Yep, he's enjoying a renaissance, all right.
