'Toy Story' Writers Bringing FarmVille to the Big Screen?

Video games turned movies aren't exactly a new process.  Now Facebook video games turned movies could be the next craze, with Mafia Wars reportedly getting a look months ago.  FarmVille is the latest game garnering possible big screen attention, and even has two of the original four writers behind Toy Story interested in penning the script.

IGN recently spoke with Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen, who mentioned a few upcoming projects they're working on including an un-named game from Zynga.

The Scott Brothers to Create a 'Call of Duty' Web Video Series?

Ridley Scott gave movie fans Alien and will deliver Prometheus to us next summer.  His younger brother, Tony Scott introduced us to True Romance and a Wild Bunch remake could prove to be his next surprise gift to moviegoers.  Now the brothers Scott will collaborate for another new venture, this time on a web video series based on the hit video game Call of Duty, according to Deadline.

New Star Trek Video Game to Serve as an In-Between for 'Star Trek' & Its Sequel?

With the movie industry becoming increasingly involved with video game production it should be no surprise that the creative minds behind Star Trek are following suit with the new Star Trek co-op shooter.  Star Trek writer Robert Orci has been serving as a consultant on the upcoming game, and is using the game's storyline to connect the end of the first film in '09 to the beginning of the sequel they're currently working on, according to Game Pro.

Universal Wants Roland Emmerich to Helm 'Asteroids' Movie

As a former Atari game console co-owner, my older brother being the other, I used to spend hours playing games like Frogger, Astroids, Pac-Man, Joust, Crystal Castles, Combat, Space Invaders and many more.  I'll always have a soft spot for the classic video games of my youth.  

Apparently, Universal shares the same nostalgia and is on a mission to adapt Asteroids into a feature film, and have gone so far as to extend an offer to disaster movie guru Roland Emmerich to direct, Vulture reports.

'Just Cause' Latest Video Game for the Big Screen

Just Cause is an open world third-person shooter video game which sold over 1 million units on the PC, PS2, and Xbox 360.  Variety reports that Eric Eisner's L+E Pictures has bought the rights to turn the Swedish developed video game into a movie.  They have retained Michael Ross (Turistas) to write the script and have also signed up Adrian Askarieh to be the producer.

Like Turistas, the movie will be set in a paradisiacal scenery and in the case of Just Cause, a Carribean Tropical Island named "San Esperito".  But that's where the similarity ends.  Just Cause is a high flying action game loaded with impossible stunts.
